We still have a massive list of things to add to the forums (ignore button, having the correct timezone for you, possibly more wysiwig post editor, more advanced search engine, etc), but we would like to hear from you what you would like or feel is missing. We have a 3-4 month release cycle planned so dakka will only get better! Dont worry about duplicating other people's comments in this thread, the more I see something, then the more likely I am to give it a higher priority.

Once you get the utility stuff and efficiency stuff down, more
smilies would be golden

Yakface is going to be adding in all the old army smilies in the next few days. They will be accessible by clicking the 'more smilies' link (although that link is a bit glitchy in IE right now).

Actually, most of the stuff I was going to add in was just the army rank icons, there weren't to many actual more smileys that were going to be added.

Do you find yourself looking for a smile type that isn't there Malf, or do you just not like the Ork emoticons?

I just wanted more...

I tended not to use the Ork ones for some reason. I refused
to go green. But depending on whether or not I can actually
bring myself to model the new orkses into a Goff army (I
actually started one box set years ago) I might just cross that line.

The ability to turn off post preview would be nice ^_^.

I think it's a great feature, but I just don't feel I need it personally. That and it's getting on my nerves when I'm trying to just leisurely scroll through and see what kind of posts are up and this big ass box pops up in my face...

The post preview on/off toggle has been added to the todo list but wont be integrated for a few months due to all the other things that have higher priorities.

I like widescreen, and more importantly I'm lazy. My preference would be for 'Last Post', 'Replies' and 'Views' to be on the left hand side so I can take it in at a glance. I'm just saying.

Some new skins are essential, though I'll probably stick to black/gold. Maybe add some of the more common post edit features to the quick reply panel.

Also, I would love to see some iTrader software like they have on Warseer, if that's possible (unless we have it already of course, I haven't read all the info on what we now have). I have found the iTrader thing very useful.

Is it possible to make an option to turn off the glossary in posts?

In-character Ork posts end up really weird at the moment.

Are there particular entries that are mucking things up, cause if so we can simply get rid of those entries. Off the top of my head I can think that "da" is probably the leading culprit, and I think we could probably live with only the plural version of it ("DAs") which wouldn't activate the normal use of "da" in ork speech.

No offence to Ork players, but I really think DA is used far more frequently to mean Dark Angels or Dire Avengers than it is in in-character posts. The glossary term should stay.

Suggestion, allow people to post reivews of other posters in their profile.

1-5 star votes and a chance for a short comment.

I can see a lot of fun coming off of it and it would be a more reliable way to acess posters than just post count.

Kyoto-san was a humble government worker. Everyday he shuffled
from his house to the embassy, bearing documents to be signed by
great public officials promising big promises between his native land
(so far away) and "the Red Land" (where all government officials learn
their trade). He did not meet the eyes of those that signed or sent him
with orders to get signed. His eyes remained low, bowed, respectful,
and Kyoto-san only ever saw the folded hands, the desks, and the
feet of those men in power above him.

In this way, Kyoto-san lived. - Malfred

Great suggestion. We are planning on having a user rating system implemented in one of the releases but I can't imagine people actually writing things about others wouldn't quickly be used in a very negative fashion, even if it was publicly known who wrote the review.

If it hasn't happened already I'd love to see a Google Gadget perhaps listing the most recent threads.
Should that be restricted to just the News and Rumors page, Discussion page, or just pull from the recent forum page?

The site looks great guys. Thank you for your efforts.

There is a text link at the right top of the main forum page "Read new messages since my last visit" if that's what you're referring to as far as function.

I'm not sure if it's just the computer I'm using (my brother's Mac) but I'm having problems with characters like > and &. Note that < works fine as does ~ and I'm sure many others.

OK & is working now, I think I saw once it wasn't but it might be my bad. It's supposed to be a greater than sign.

No... I guess it would be an RSS feed? Something that you could plug into a Google Personalized home page.

You can find an RSS feed of the most recent threads here:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/rss/recentTopics.page

You can bookmark that with 'Live Bookmarks' in firefox to get an instant drop down of all recent threads which is quite cool, or you can use it in any standard RSS feed reader (like google, etc). All individual threads have RSS feeds as does each individual forum (just click the RSS icon next to the forum or thread name on each page to access it).

On some forums, you can see who is in what section. Is that possible on this board? Not a big deal, but it would be nice to be able to see where people are looking.

That is coming in a few releases time as it is quite low priority for now. It will probably be about mid-2008 before we add that but it will be added.

Any chance of some alert when you receive a PM while on the forum? Not like the aggressive pop-up on the last Dakka, but something so I don't leave Dakka, see the notification e-mail and then have to go back to Dakka to read the PM.

Or is there one that I don't pick up on?

At the moment it will just display under 'Private Messages' in the top right and when you get one it will say 'New Private Messages: (#)'. This is being updated to be much more prominent though (different colour, maybe some sort of attention grabbing animation).

No problem. If there is a thread you need to watch closely, then you can click 'Email me when this thread changes' at the botton of the page and then you will know as soon as someone adds something. You can do it for entire forums as well as individual threads too which is how I stay on top of things (that and lunch hour boredom).
