Once a year we descend into lunacy, and actually have a sale...



Black Friday 2007 - "I can't believe they talked me into this again!"
I have to be honest with you, I hate sales. What exactly makes anything worth less this week than last week? Doesn't a customer from last week feel silly when he finds out what he bought last week is even cheaper this week? And sales that are on the same day every year -- that is really idiotic. All you do is train your customers to wait for the sale days - Sears nearly went out of business doing that.

So then why a Black Friday Sale? A number of reasons. Eating a lot of food on Thanksgiving makes me giddy. I love the Christmas season. My birthday is at the end of November. TheWarStore officially opened in November of 1999. And men with significant others need a welcome break (or even a reason to stay home) from all the upcoming Holiday Shopping down at the Mall!

Two other reasons stand out most of all. First, our regular customers deserve a special "Thank You" discount. Thanks guys. TheWarStore continues to grow at a sometimes alarming rate. And second, we need to pull as much money and as much sales out of December and back into November as we possibly can. It keeps us from going completely nutty come Christmas! And that is a worthy goal. So get ready to enjoy yourself, pull up an extra piece of pumpkin pie, and check out a few Black Friday pointers...

Some basic Black Friday Information, please read carefully!

At its basic heart Black Friday is an extra 5% discount on everything we sell! Woo Hoo! I must be nuts. Anyway, when using the shopping cart just type the words Black Friday into the coupon section of the checkout screen. Voila! An extra 5% off the order total! It is like internet black magic!
Black Friday is more than just Friday! Black Friday hours actually extend from 12:01AM Thursday morning to Midnight Monday the 26th. We will NOT be at the store taking phone orders on Thursday! Black Friday store/phone order hours are Friday, Saturday, and Monday 9AM-6PM and Sunday 1PM-6PM. All times are Eastern (NY).

Crap. I wrote a 40k poem way back in high school that actually turned out well. I have no idea where it is though. I'll have to try and rewrite it.

Oh, who'm I kidding? I'll probably just make my wife miserable with more unpainted lead. They are...precious to me.

I picked up some 3" GF9 templates and Swamp Gobbers for Hordes. My LGS is charging 1.2 CAN on the USD, boo. Besides my brother is placing an order anyway.

The Rackham line has some sweet looking minis.

Well, almost all the UW stuff I wanted was gone by the time I got online, so I gave up on that. OTOH, I've got a pile of Red Blok stuff in my cart (1 unit of Krasny w/UA, 1 unit of Dragonov w/UA, Kollosi, and a Kossak). At this point I'm just debating adding some more and either some UNA or Therian stuff (though I'm thinking of holding out for Karmans).

And those Pig Iron figs are wicked tempting. Oooh...

Got a bitz bag, and some fantasy Ork bits to make a Weirdboy out of; later, I went back and bought the two cases for $100...too bad the wife wants me to wait 'til Christmas to open them...

I missed out on the cheap devilfish, piranhas, and cheap 8-man chaos marines :(

Someone listed what they got from the last time and he was a little underwhelmed, he got things like 7 half lizardmen guys and 7 half empire guys. A dozen Fire Warrior heads, that kind of thing.

That said, I bought one . I have ambitions plans regarding mutants, Inquisition and terrain I should be OK, besides I'm fun so.

I also added a chaos sprue and a wood elf sprue to my order. They've got $25 Russ tanks up right now. I wanted 3 of the Wood Elf sprues ($5! great misc infantry) but I got the last one.

I've been holding off on buying anything from Neal this month just because I knew of his Black Friday sale.

My Haul: 14 tanks....but the weekend isn't done yet.

I am weak. I added a Space Woof Battle force and 2 boxes of Khorn Bezerkers. I guess I am doing that fallen woof army.

I wound up buying a sprue of chaos marines, a bag of bitz, 3 devilfish on sprues, some defiler bitz, 2 boxes of stealth suits, 2 piranhas, and some smart missile systems.

I was good and stuck to what I planned on getting: motorpool, (the most expensive) dice (ever) for my tomb kings, 2 reaper brushes to try and a 34mm D20 in my chaos dice color just cause. Should have added in the Therian book, but forgot

So kinda boring, with no models to play with, just "extra" stuff.

Relatively painless:

Wraithlord Torso Bits to replace the warped bitz that came with my kit. (GW sent me a whole new kit and didn't ask for the faulty one back, so two Wraithlords for the price of one and a torso. Can't beat that).
2 x Wraithlord Hand Sets to give my Wraithlords five digits instead of four.

Dark Age Brood Mean Jellybean because he's awesome.

Wyrd Miniatures Taelor - Lady Hammerstrike perfect for an Inquisitorial sidekick.

AT-43 RPG Soldaty Unit Box and Attachment Box to be combined with my FW Cadian rebreather heads.
AT-43 Colonels Odin O-1 and Manon O-2 Hero Box best looking Red Blok walker yet.
AT-43 Assault Goliaths Unit Box to moonlight as AdMech combat servitors.
AT-43 Anakonga Unit Box and Attachment Box - hoping to find clear plastic hemispheres of the right size to make bubble helmets for these guys.

Thanks for the post Kid_Kyoto I picked up 2 devil fishes and a Hive Tyrant.

Since it seems like they're discontinuing some of the older sculpts, I ended up picking up some Viridians, Triads, and Gladiators for Urban War. It was a steal, and I'm glad I did now.

I've always liked most of those Urban War miniatures, and let me tell you guys what, after holding those miniatures in my hand....they are totally slick.


I'll definitely post some painted pics and maybe even a brief review when I get around to working on them.

Veridian figs are awesome. Sorry I didn't manage to pick up some more of 'em. The AT-43 Red Blok stuff I did get is totally sweet, though.

Yeah, and I love the Triad retainers too. Hopefully I'll have time to catch up on my painting backlog during winter break and I can post some pics.
