Hello guys. So, I re-registered to this new, and joyously notably nicer forum format, and I switched my name again. Previously Chronophague/Chrono, or Kronork to those of the Waaagh, I've switched to a name based on my real name. Anyway, enough of that.

Thought I'd pop by and post some pics of the first of three falcons I'm painting up, all with a space phenomena related theme going on.
So, here's the first one.

I'll have pics of the rear as soon as the camera battery loads, for some reason the ones I took were out of focus. More on that later.

Comments, critique, etc?

Cheers

Yeah sure
Does the painting count as Holofields?
How about glazing the metalparts with very dilluted purple ink? I´d suggest this especially for the airintakes to blend them more in.

Gorgeous. Good gods.

The only critique I can think of is that the gems don't seem to all agree on where the light is coming from. This is pretty trivial and will largely go unnoticed, but if you look at the gems on the turret, in particular, it's a bit of a clash. I like Grobrotz' idea about a faint purple glaze on the metals too, though that's more a matter of personal taste.

This piece is an awesome space mural. I love the vibrant colors and subtle variation of said colors in the nebula's. I can see what Ragnar is talking about for the turret gems, the light source does seem a bit misplaced up there, the rear facing gems are sourcing back to the front of the vehicle. The weakest point (imo) is the metals right now. They seem somewhat flat, and leave me feeling as if they're unfinished. My favorite part of the entire model though is definitely the canopy, SE there is a perfect spot to really show off the technique without making it overbearing on the viewer.

Overall, Top Notch job. Are these for the harlies (that was you right?..) you posted a little while back?

All that can be said at this point is to simply parrot what everyone else has already commented: "Good lord." For a guy like me, who can barely highlight, seeing that is like... seeing something really awesome, that paint-job has left me at a loss for words. I can only wonder how you'll be able to top this with your other Falcons.

It seems pretty stupid to reply just to say "omg" but I can't help myself.. that is just stunning! Is that all out of your head, or did you base the field on a Hubble picture or something? Seriously, beautiful!

I think it needs a companion piece: an ork war-van with a howling wolf painted on the side

Seriously, that's impressive. You're doing a whole squadron to that level? Good luck!

Love it, absolutely.

If I were to ever comission a painted army, three similar falcons would be featured. I'd load up on jetbikes to keep the same mural work throughout the force. I love how the colors you used would still make Harlequins, firedragons, jetbikes, and farseers look fantastic. I suppose even black Dire Avengers with purple plumes would look great. Do you have posts of the other parts of your army?

I'm happy to say I'm the owner of these Eldar models that chrono is painting. They look truly gorgeous. Some of the other stuff he's posted in other threads:

Yeah, my critique is that you shouldn't ask for criticism of models that are perfect.

ok, how to give constructive feedback concerning something 10 time better than anything I can do?

I will try to spot thing you improve:
- Somebody already said something about the gem.
- the silver drybrush is... within my reach. I mean, I can do that, so if you a searching for something to improve, i will look there: Gem and silver.

Excellent quality and marvelous idea for the vehicle. Really inspiring work.
For what little critique I can drag up: I found the yellow stars on the scatterlaser side of the vehicle a little distracting, but I like them on the pulselaser side. Perhaps it's just the quantity of them. The metallics on the prod looking thing with a gem under the vehicle look awesome, better than the engine's silver.

How are you going to coat this?

Fantastic work Tapsa!

I think you've achieved something very rare with the Falcon - that is to truely paint a miniature, not anally execute a technical excercise - and what makes it so succesfull is the effect that still leaves masses impressed with the tech itself. I really try to "paint" these days and skip the non creative process/levels of HLing all together. It's about time that miniature art will begin taking some of those leaps that 2d art took hundreds of years ago.

I would like to have seen something like this on the Harlies too. Holofields and all.

I wish you'd only use white background when taking pics too, instead of that old rag

I can see what you did there.

You made a very unique camo paint job. See when you opponets look at that squad they will do their best to avoid those Falcons. You painted them like a Vortex grenade and we all know what happens when a Vortex hits anything.

Plus, you can always use the Falcons as Vortex stand-ins.

Oh, and I agree with the rest of the Dakkaites, OMG! Frickkin' sweet paint job. I can't wait to see the rest of the army together.
