Something new today a model I painted for another painting comp which had to be an old school model.

I choose to paint a Man O' War Death Fortress, for those that don't know the model is the same size as an unbased Space Marine.

You will be seeing the rest of the fleet on the painting table soon.

Mary and the cannon look great - though that Man'O'War Death Fortress looks awesome. I've got one of those somewhere, but I don't think I've ever seen one painted up. Looks really cool there!

The Death Fortress is great. But the scenery is amazing as well. It's one of my big hobby regrets that I didn't get a couple of man o war fleets and the rules. But alas finding stuff is hard these days.

Yeah Dreadfleet is nothing compared to Man O' War the models and rules are great, its a really fun game.

Thanks Azazelx. I think I've finally got to a stage where I'm happy painting female fleshtones now. I need to work on male ones now as I have some minis coming up that are barbarian types that I'm a bit worried about painting.

Just a quick update to show I'm still here

Been a bit busy this weekend and will be next weekend as well as I'm working Sunday during the day

I have started my undead cavalry though, they are currently upto the below stage, everything still needs another level of highlights but they are getting there which is cool.

I took the plunge this weekend between pre-ordering the new GW Horus Heresy game or going in hard for the Dropfleet Commander game on Kickstarter. I ended up going for the Horus Heresy game as I couldn't resist all those Space Marines.

I'll be doing the Word Bearers as World Eaters in their post heresy colours so they cam flesh out my existing army. The other side is currently leaning towards Emperor's Children but I'm not 100% decided on that yet.

I really like those models and you have done an amazing job thus far. What plans do you have for this base? Really like how all your bases are mini dioramas.

Time flies when you have to much work or so it seems.

Can't believe its been a few weeks since my last update. Well I've progressed lots on the undead cavalry they are finished apart from the base which I was planning on doing this weekend but then all went out the window.

I got some cool stuff though this week, my Betrayal at Calth box set arrived as did some Batman minis I won on ebay, I got a nice little bundle to help start my League of Shadows (Lady Shiva and girls, Nyssa and the assassin box of two that has one with a bow). I'll probably pick up the rest of the League of Shadows minis so I have all of them at some point.

Then we get to Saturday and I was just about to start doing the cavalry base after undercoating it in the morning and I accidentally came across something on Facebook. My local group has a tournament on the 5th of December, I've been ignoring them as I got rather stressed last time I went . But they had a number of players drop out in the last few days, I said I could fill in if no one else did and they signed me up

So me being me decided to instead of using an army I already have all the minis painted for, as that would be too sensible decided to do some thing else instead..... I put together a list which looked quite cool and played around with it for a few hours and ended up going for two CAD's Sisters and Mantis Warriors which leaves me with a number of minis I now have to paint in a very short time frame as I had to submit the list the same day.

So the rest of Saturday was re-painting all of the heads of my Sisters of Battle as I wasn't very good at faces back when I first painted them and their hair was just dry brushed.

Bad pic below, will do a better one at some point.

I'm two models missing so had to order some off ebay which is a tad risky, I just hope they turn up this week otherwise I'm going to struggle with them.

The Mantis Warriors are even worse I added a new squad a second Sicaran, a new Captain and a tecmarine with servitors which all need painting

I built them this morning and started slapping paint on.

I'm really unsure If I'm going to get this lot done but have to try as I can't change my list without loosing tournament points now.

So there we go, oh and I'm starting X-Wing as well as the club are having a play day in Jan so I need to pick some models up for that and re-paint them

The undead will resume after all this 40k stuff is out the way

Hopefully by my next update I will have lots done.

Good luck with the speed-painting and the tournament itself!

Another convert to Batman, hooray! Definitely got a solid core to a list there. Do you have things like the (legal) PDF of the rules, and the plain text version of them? If not, let me know and I'll get the links together.

Thanks Para going to need all the luck I can get.

I have the PDF rules saved somewhere, with my painting schedule they are quite far away still.

yes I have indeed its not hard when there are lots of nice minis.

-------------------------

I think there's going to be lots of updates this week..... tonight was Sicaran green night, two layers down and she's looking good. I really wish I had an airbrush at this point but never mind.

Tomorrow night I hope to block in the yellows, I really need all the basics done on all the models ready for the weekend. I won the two sister models I needed on ebay but didn't realise they are super slow posters so the models might not arrive till Monday If that happens I need everything else finished by this weekend, to make things harder I'm working Thursday and Saturday night this week as well which means I loose a few potential hours, I dread to think what I'm going to be like Sunday painting

What fun is life without time pressure?

Cramming before an exam,
Rewriting a report moments before it's due,
Distractig a customer on the phone while posting his stuff,
Sitting at the tournament venue applying the finishing touches to your models?

Good luck with it all. Last time I tried to get models done by a deadline I failed miserably.

And I'm finished

Talk about only just finishing in time, sorry the updates stopped I was painting to really late hours most nights.

Army shot will follow I didn't have time today before it got dark today.

So here we go first up is the Sisters.

Then we have the Mantis Warrior Captain.

A Mantis Warrior combat squad.

Two Servitors

Their boss the Techmarine

A big tank, the second Sicaran for the Mantis Warriors named Elena.

And I made, well painted some objective markers as well, they had to be flat for the mission where you place them face down.

And there we have it, my big brush died in the process of painting that tank

I also picked up some more Batman minis in the Black Friday sale, Hush, Poison Ivy, Swamp Thing, Killer Frost and Batwoman. The first three can form a band which just goes over 300 points which is what I'm aiming for to start with. Not sure about the other two but they were nice models

I'll let you know how I get on tomorrow, more than likely I will vow never to go again after last time but we shall see.

Mighty fine work! Good luck!

Killer Frost can be used by most villain crews, so she's a good buy. Batwoman can work for either Batman or Law crews, so if you're expanding into either of those she's handy.

Try to enjoy the event and meeting new people rather than the "strange" combos you encounter at tournaments. I recently was persuaded to bolster numbers at my clubs xwing tournament and I remembered why I avoid competitive play. But. I did enjoy the different opponents and scenarios.

I really didn't think I'd get them all done but I made it

------------------------------------

So the weekend has come and gone, it was an ok day enjoyed myself more than last time. I didn't do great but some really great games.

Let's start off with my army shot taken at the event so you can see what I had, the six black marines aren't mine thats what my opponent had left at the end of game one.

Game 1 vs Space Marines and Grey Knights - This was against one of the guys I know and was a great game Celestine and her unit were amazing they killed so many marines in combat it was amazing, he learned the hard way that you never charge her unit due to 4 hand flamers and Celestine's own heavy flamer. I must say I really love the Sicarans they have to be one of the best things I've bought for 40k over the years, there aren't overally powerful but just hit the right spot for how I play. We ended after we totaled up victory points in a draw, we were both quite amazed, If it had gone on another turn I would have tabled him as I still had both Sicarans and my Knight undamaged on the table, oh and Celestine.

Game 2 vs Mechanicum and Flesh Tearers - I've never played Mechanicum before and they were a hard fight especially when they come down in drop pods, my tanks didn't last long but I gave as good as I got, I had really bad objectives all game so ended up loosing but got his big knight down to one hull point. things would have been different if I could have taken it out as it was a beat stick, it was an Atrapos and was as mean as hell. He ended up winning but I think it was close. He came in third place in the tournament overall.

Game 3 vs Grey Knights - I messed this game up, I didn't know how to handle his army he had three dreadknights and a Knight and I could only kill one dreadknight a turn. In the end the knight made its way round the table and killed everything while I was trying to kill the dreadknights. My mistake was not reversing my tanks (we were playing long ways) before his last dreadknight was in charge range which lost me a Sicaran.

My troops just plain died as he had nothing in power armour that they could go for and there was no cover to hide from his knights battle cannon.

The army I played in game two won best painted, I've given up my hopes of winning best painted any more at these events

Yeah so not a bad day out, game three was really rubbish and boring but thats how it goes, luck of the placings to be honest.

Next up for me is some X-wing friendly games towards the end of Jan, there is a 30k tournament in March but I cant muster enough models for it, my list I made is missing two models but one of those is a Glaive for something that I'll use once a year its not really worth spending the cash out on.

Next up on the painting table I will be going back to finish the undead cavalry, I've lost my slot to do the Ghouls now as the weather is too unreliable for undercoating outside so after that I'll be delving into my primed box to see what's next.
