Ooooh, I hope some grisly trophies on the finished model show what happened to the Rhino crew, too...

That is awesome... a 'walking' Stompa? In that I mean bi-pedal and sort of 'co-ordinated'.

Looks Uber-Orky-Looted-Mechboss.

How did you construct the feet?

I normally dont like gargants/stompas but this is off the chain! really nice - just hoping that the arms are gonna look nice (i.e. atleast somewhat moveable)
Have you started work on the arms yet? Im guessing you are going to make a ccw weapon for it - I would suggest a morningstar/´uge hammer type of blunt weapon rather than a buzz- or chainsaw.

The body and especially the legs look brilliant - might be one of the first times that I can actually imagine that lump of steel to move itself across the battlefield.

Only two...

akira5665 wrote:How did you construct the feet?

They're still WIP, obviously, but so far I just built each foot as two seperate boxes (main foot and toe) connected with a hinge. I'll be adding some hydraulics across the top of the toe.

The ankle is just a pivot in the middle of the foot at the moment. Again, I'll be adding some hydraulics to control pitch and side-to-side movement.

Innom wrote:Have you started work on the arms yet?

I've started on the weapons (Deth Kannon's mostly built, mega-gatla is about half done) but that's as far as the arms have gone so far.

It will definitely have a CCW of some type, but I haven't decided on exactly what it will be yet.

You're definitely keeping busy these days, aren't you, Insaniak? Or have you just been in a fit of photography for the slew of projects you've been working on for a while?

Some of these projects have been in the pipeline for a while, but I got a little bogged down for a while, and so am just getting in and finishing stuff off.

Speaking of getting in and finishing things off... I finished off his right foot(well, almost. Still needs a little gap-filling here and there):

More pics, and probably a bit of an ongoing Blog, under the couch.

Nice stompin' foot!

The 2 rhinos making up the body is brilliant

Oh, and I guess that's part of another for the head? Excellent!

I like the details that you are putting into this. My one concern is that the feet and legs are going to look to small once you get the arms attached but I'll reserve comments until things get furthur along.

Nope, the head is made from the parts cut off to make room for the legs.

Added the detailing on the mega-gattla (not quite finished yet) and strapped it onto the Kannon:

That's really just down to cutting it off square, and then carefully cutting crescents into the cut end, so that it sits flush against the side of the tube it's connecting to.

No tips on getting that square... it's just down to careful cutting and trimming to get it right. Some of mine aren't really all that perfectly square... but for Orks it really doesn't matter too much.

yeah, it was the crescenty bits I was wondering about, thought you might have some secret trick. As you say, at least we can be grateful we're modelling orks, it's always a great excuse for any crooked bits!

Huh. I have been trying to come up with a Gigga-shoota that is not just a tube sticking out of a box, but you seem to have pulled it off and make it look alright. Hmmm, yer an inspiration. Thanks! Love them feet by the way! They do not seem to integrate into the bulky body so much though, might need some armoured plates around the hips to bulk the legs out a bit. Lookin good though!
