Soooooooo..... after not having my laptop for awhile, I finally got a new hard drive and am back. I would have fixed it sooner, but I have a tablet for browsing etc, so it was kind of low on the list. Now that its fixed though, I will be working on this blog more. Since I was last on my group and I have caught the fantasy bug, so I thought I'd throw a few pictures of my work on that first. I'll put up some back logged pictures later today. I haven't been posting, but I've certainly been modelling still.

First, I've been working on painting some warriors of chaos. This was my first test model. He is done except for the base.

I started on some more. If you look to the left, you will see some of the Avatars of War models. They are called corruptors, but are pretty much Nurgle WoC with great weapons. Pretty cool models but a PAIN to build.

Next, some WIP Chaos Knights. Still need to finish some details and give them shields.

Lastly, I've started a zombie unit. I wanted them to look like they were raised right off the battlefield. I also made a unit filler. Have more done, and will post more pics later of these guys.

Well, thats all for now. I will be a lot more active on here now that I have my computer back. Thanks for looking and feel free to comment!

Hey nice stuff. I always had a soft spot for chaos. Those knights are freaking terrifying and the zombie unit filler is appropriate

I like the look of the Chaos. Hell, now that reminds me to finally get my Fire Forge Crusader/Medieval army I wanted to do for a while.

So I promised more pics today, so here we go. This is what I've finished up today. Been kind of piddling around the house all day so I've made pretty good progress.

First rank of WoC done

Bretonnian zombies plus unit filler. Got the idea from a recent White Dwarf and thought it was an awesome idea.

Its hard to see, but I chopped some of the legs off and reglued them and weird angles to make them look like a shambling hoard.

And thats pretty much what I spent today working on. What does everyone think of he armor on the WoC? At first I thought it miht be too bright, but the more I see it the more I like it. Also, any ideads anyone has to make the zombies cooler would be appreciated. I will have 28 more Bretonnian bodies on Monday, and I have plenty of zombie and Bret parts.

Everything looks good. I think the armor is fine as is.

For bretonian zombies... crawling torsos? Got any arrows or spare blades to stick into them?

That's a good point, Grim. They had to become zombies somehow... I know I have spare swords, but I need to look around for some arrows.

Doesn't one of the bretonian kits have arrows planted in the ground for the archers?

I mean, the swords could totally have been stuck in after the fact too

I love to see peoples take on zombie units, they can be so dull if they are ALL the GW box. Your Bretonnian ones look great, if I ever get around to needing to do hordes of Zombies I was thinking of trying to theme each unit to one of the different races, Zombie Empire, Bretonnia, High Elves etc. etc.

I have been working on building a unit of 20-25 of the Bretonnian zombies. Next is a unit of High Elf zombies. Discount games store is selling High Elf spearmen for 9$ a box, so I got two of them and will be trying my hand at that soon. I looked at the HE sprue, and it looks like it should be pretty easy. I looked at the DE sprue just to see if it would work and the way their bodies and legs go together would make it impossible (at least for me) to convert them into zombies. But at 9$ a box, the HE were a no brainer.

Are they having a clearing sale or something? Because that is a steal for any GW kit that price. I ask because I am not near you and live in the mid-west.

They are actually based out of Ohio. They run an ebay store and will sell off their facebook page through paypal as well. They run weekly specials, and that was the one for this week.

And while they do have great deals, I will say that 9$ a box is not the norm for their sales. This was an exceptional deal and why I went ahead and jumped on it.

Hell, I would too provided I was not spending on other brands, still played the game and had a lot more money. But I am a college student so that kind of hinders that as well.

Although back on topic, I do like the WoC Warriors, but the armor seems to be a little flat. Maybe it can use a metallic wash?

Thanks everyone!

So, continuing with the Chaos theme, I got the new Blight Kings as well as the new Gutrot Spume model. Nurgle is my favorite of the Chaos Gods so how I could I resist. Anyways, I got them in today and ran downstairs to get them built. The kit is simply amazing. It is not very modular, however. Pretty much each model has a choice of two fronts, and two arms on each side. So there is some modularity, but its not like a ball and socket joint kit. Doesn't matter to me, I still love them. I don't know how easy they will be to do conversion work on, but I'm sure people more talented than me will do awesome things with them. Anyways, on to the pictures.

Spume is in the middle

Loving the Putrid Blightkings and Spume squall. They look like a really nice kit!
I went and splurged on Bitzbox and got myself some of the bits for my Beastmen army, as well as bits for my brother's Plague Marines and spawn.

Those models are pretty epic, they do some wonderful kits.

I like your paint scheme. Not your typical Nurgle scheme, but definitely has that pallid, unwell look to them without dripping with pus. Keen to see the whole unit together.

I wasn't sure how to do the skin tone. I might try to do it slightly different, as I'm not sure about the yellow yet. I will finish this guy up and see how he looks as I haven't really done much work on the skin besides a first basecoat.

So I haven't been posting as much as I would like lately, but that doesn't mean I haven't been painting. I'm just going to photo dump a few things I've been working on. Hope you enjoy.

First off, I've been working on my IG army, the Baal 111th, for my gaming groups 1st ever tournament next weekend. Here are a few vets I finished up earlier tonight.

Next is some LOTR scenery I've been working on. This is my test scheme, but I'm feeling good with how it came out, especially with how little effort i put into it. Its from the ruins of Osgiliath set. Still need to build and finish the rest.

Finally, some orcs and goblins. I have a decent size OnG fantasy army and I'm always working on them. Slowly but surely...

Have a few more pics I will put up later tonight. Thanks for looking and feel free to comment!!

I quite like the beards and bare chests to denote veteran status, I dig

I was feeling the stone and then I got to the wrecked wooden section, very nice!

Shaman's skull soup is pretty cool I also like the no-nonsense vibe coming off your big armored orcs as well!

Shoot, when I don't post for a couple of weeks at a time, I usually don't come back with lots of progress so I think you're doing just fine

Love the color of the walls and the wooden platform is really great.

Is the base on the Goblin Shaman part of the model or did you do that yourself?

How did you do the cloak on the Veteran Guardsman?

Thanks, grim. The black orcs have definitely been my favorite orcs to paint. I tried to make them a little more rough looking. Didn't want them to give off a goofy vibe.

Archer, the cloak is just a bit firm the IG command sprue. Paint wise it's just a few layers of Mephiston red, then some P3 khador highlight, followed by GWs red glaze.

The goblin base is part of the model. I'm not that good at sculpting.

@EyeamRai- I have always liked Orcs, and love the way they play. I'm not a huge fan of mass painting though, so I just usually do a few at a time. Checked out your blog. That spider is creepy.

@Tanakosyke- I have some of the Mantic orcs, but I like the GW heroic scale more, especially with Orcs. I use the mantic ones as rank filler. I know a lot of people like the true scale more, and the Mantic Orcs are one of the few I know of. And they look prety darn cool too.

So I took a break from painting and did a little building this afternoon. Built some plague marines. I'm a pretty obvious GW fanboy, but I HATE finecast, so instead of using the stock ones, I just made some of my own. These are made from the Chaos marine kit, the plague bearers kit, and the fantasy Chaos forsaken kit.

#3 and my favorite.

Finally, a vert preliminary WIP shot of a Chimera for my IG tournament list. Hopefully I will do a better job weathering this one than I did the Leman Russ.

Possibly more stuff later tonight. Depends on how distracted I get by the End Times: Glottkin book I got in today!
