I suppose you missed this post.

Alright, in regards to the Taurox, I can honestly say.. no fething clue.

Mind you, Victoria handles all of this as it's her business, but the last time I talked to the caster (who I'm doing commissions for as well), she said the master was made and it'd be shipping soon.

That was a good long while ago, so I can't tell you, heh.

Victoria has been hell bent for leather with theatre stuff lately, even I've had a hard time getting a chat with her!

That said, I'm in the same boat as you, waiting for the wheels for my Taurox, so you have my commiseration.

But you know what I'm really waiting for? The heavy weapons carriages, hehe. So for that matter are a couple of GW employees I know!
So, cool your jets, she's hella busy.

On the bright side, it's time in which to paint the mountains of resin and metal we all own already, right?

For the Taurox wheels it is more of a question of should I wait for hers or buy another option as the Taurox has been out for a while now. I like the look of Vics better then most of the competitors, but since they dropped off the radar so to speak it became a question of are they still coming at all.

I shot an email to their website and stated they are still being worked on and are hoping for another month or so for release. I understand also that this is an estimate and it is enough for me to be willing to keep waiting for Vic's kit.

I just got a set of vi'c Victorian Rifles, along with Captain Caine and the Heavy Weapon Arms, and boy they're something else.

I really liked the metals, but the extra level of detail these guys have damned near puts Forgeworld to shame (and considering whichever caster you're using is fantastic; the resin is much more durable than that of my Death Korps, there're another few points in your favour). I was initially concerned about the switch to resin, given prior experience with Forgeworld and GW, but I can confidently say my concerns have been waylaid. The material is superb quality, and the models are made knowing the limitations of resin; everything's just thick enough to keep it's shape and avoid breaking easily, but not so thick as to look cartoonish.

My only negative comments are pretty tiny; the ridging on the pith helmets is so subtle that unless you use extremely thin paint, and a very good wash, they're easily lost, and some of the rifle straps were a little damaged, like 3 out of the 30 or so in the sets I ordered, so again, nothing significant.

My only wish is that there was a torso I could use to more readily emulate Colour Sergeant Bourne from Zulu; one of the heads is a spitting image, but his tunic was rather distinctive (I ended up pseudo-making one out of a Cadian officer torso and some greenstuff). Perhaps an idea for a standard bearer for the Victorian range, like the event one done for the arcadians?

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

Victoria will be back from Sydney within the next week, and tracking shows a package has arrived at her place.

Can't wait to find out what came in.

A sneak peak of the massive haul of awesome new bits that were waiting for me when I got home last night. I have been in Sydney for two weeks designing "Kryptonite" for the Sydney Theatre Company.

Great to be back, I can't wait to get working on releasing the latest resin goodies.

edit.

I spy Taurox wheels, heavy weapon wheels and riot-like shields.

looking good! I can also see heavy weapon gun shields, and something that looks like it is probably the heavy weapon gun mounts with trails and axles. As well as some large guns, and something which looks like a sprue of arms on the far right mid way up.
Not to mention some of those wheels are much smaller, and appear to be doubled up- Matilda II road wheels?

Ah Brook, taking care of things while I was drooling after not falling asleep til 5am. You are amazing, as always.

Taurox suspension kits, riot shields, heavy weapon carriages and their attendant weapons, 3 types of wheels, guns, guns, moar gunz, some torsos, and some other goodies.

I'm guessing those are the weapon holding arms for the Arcadians? Nice to see riot shields. I hope some riot cops similar to the custodian show up.

I also think I see torsos in the bottom middle of the picture, could be mistaken.

But, looks like I'll be placing an order sooner or later, as soon as those weaponless arms show up.

Down at the bottom-middle of that glorious photo there looks like a baggy of torsos with some kind of integral backpack sculpted on it. I could be totally wrong but if not I'd be very interested to see what they look like!

Actually mate, I've only got some ideas as to what's in there, Victoria doesn't tell me everything. Some of it's guesses, some of it I know for a fact because I know what parts go with what, and some of it I suspect includes restocks.

I wonder if this is Package #1, Package #2, some combination of the two, or maybe even Package #3 (or all of them piled together). It's as much suspense for me as it is for you guys (and gals)!

I see what you mean about torsos, they look like torsos with integral backpacks, but to my knowledge nothing of that is in the line, as the Mossguard backpacks are separate. Maybe the shipping has jostled two sprues to match up, or maybe there's something in there that I'm not privy to.

SUSPENSE!

Also, from talking to Victoria the other day when she was still in Sydney, she needs to verify the casting of everything in the box (not that the caster isn't trusted, V just likes to eyeball everything herself before sending it out the door for QC) and then things should start going up on the website over the next few days to a week.

Taurox Stuff

So I chatted with the caster the other day, and she explained the hold up on the Taurox stuff. Basically, it came down to having to do the moulds in a completely different way and some trial and error because of the shapes involved. I designed some solid, yet delicate (in regards to moulding/demoulding) parts that while perfectly serviceable, required different approaches from normal. So it because a case of make a test mould, make several test pours, then discard it and try a new design. This had to be done several times, and some innovative bracing had to be achieved. Also, because 3d parts can be very thin and have some "bounce" to them, a couple of times the mould would temporarily bend the master slightly, rendering the attempt futile. Then a few of the changes the caster made muffed up the fit slightly, so they had to be partially reverted.

Since that chat, we've revamped a couple of details on things here and there that have yet to be shown off and can hopefully avoid these things in the future. While I feel I have a very good handle on what the technology I use can and cannot do, and where I can push the boundaries and succeed vs where it'll just stack horribly, I'm still learning from the casters and having to take their art into account.

So I am more than willing to wear a bit of your ire and some of the blame for it taking so long to get the suspension kit to you.

And if I'd known what the delay was sooner (I'd been out of contact with the caster as we'd each been hellishly busy with things that didn't bring our paths into crossing for a while), I'd have let you guys know sooner!

I'll try being nicer if you'll try being smarter.

For me it's Taurox wheels for Taurox #3, Devil's officer arms, a squad of FemCadians plus crouching legs and an extra batch of torsos and a set of weaponless arms when they happen. Only thing missing right now is Andrew Rae's 28mm heroic beret heads for more veterans.
