I'm desperately trying to get a clean coat of red paint on my white rhino, and I am finding it extreeemly difficult.

How do you get a clean coat of dark red on a basecoat of skull white?

I usually go with a light undercoat of orange before starting with the red. Another option would be foundation paint I guess.

Miguelsan hit it dead-on. Foundation Mechrite Red is just the ticket.

I usually use an airbrush for this but try several thin coats of red.

There's two really easy ways of painting a clean red finish without using foundation paints:

1: White undercoat, then mix in a little white with your red for a thin light Pink coat. Then the red paint will stick to the pink colour easier than on pure white.

2. White undercoat, then a thin layer of Bleached Bone. Red covers bleached bone perfectly in just one thin coat, but apply as many thin coats as you want.

For red I'd ,as someone mentioned, use orange or a yellow.
But make sure that you get an even coat otherwise you'll
get streaks in the red.White is damn hard to work with
as an undercoat!

... so, does that mean that orange is easier to get an even coat with?
