So for a long time I've wanted to find the perfect 40k civilian vehicles. Something that looks suitably retro but also sufficiently heavy to be a 40k vehicle.

In Hong Kong I found a great addition to my motor pool.

The kit is a bit old, 1993 and was a real @#$%^ to put together. Parts didn't fit, lots of flash, parts broke...

It's by a company called Alan but the company name was sloppily covered by Shanghai Dragon decals. So who knows if this is in production anymore or who makes it.

Anyway once it was together...

Not bad, not bad at all.

It's a bit tall but still smaller than a rhino

I worked hard to integrate these real world vehicles into the rich imagagry of the 40k universe, for example I added a skull to the hood.

Well, OK, that was pretty much all I had to do.

I also made some progress with my nazi armored car and should have all 3 painted soon.

Deff dred is right, it would probably act as a land based aquila lander. You could use them as count as centaurs.

That is a really good idea for the IG. I think it fits into 40k universe very well.

"I.. I know my time has come" Tethesis said with a gasp, a torrent of blood flowing from his lips.
"No! Hang on brother!!" Altharius could feel the warmth slip away from his dear sibling's hands

Tethesis's reached out his bloodied arm to Altharius's face.
"I..I have one final request"
Altharius leaned close to listen, tears welling in his once bright eyes.
"make sure th..they put my soulstone in a tank... it'll be... real fethin' cool"
"Yes, you're gonna be the most fethin' cool tank!!" burning hot tears streaked down Altharius's face, as he held his brother's soul in his grasp.

And here they are all painted up!

I'm not 100% happy with the paint job but it's good enough for government work as we like to say. I think it needs dry brushing with a lighter blue.

They'll be put on bases so they can serve as terrain.

& another small update. A while back I picked up the Battlefield Evolution jeeps. As most Dakkites said they were smaller than expected, more 20mm than 28mm.

But loaded with baggage they can serve as terrain.

EDIT correct images pasted in. the copy to clipboard function is doing weird things today.

Nice find Kyoto. I'm sure they would look great in any kind of "human" 40k army. Let me know when you find out if there's a way to get them over some online shop of some kind, I've got a few buddies at the local store who would love to get their hands on them.

They could use a little more pain though. I would suggest to add more metal colors, maybe to show some damage or to show the details a little better.

I like your Skullrhinotm . It's very grim/dark.

Funny you should ask I just bought 5 more vehicles more vehicles yesterday.

It's by Zvezda it turns out, and there are 2 more variants of the vehicle.

Dragon USA has them but some European suppliers may be easier for you.
http://www.dragonusaonline.com

If you do order from Dragon USA check carefully, they have the stuff they sell themselves and then a marketplace where they sell for other vendors. I saves about $20 buying from the marketplace.

BA-3 Soviet Armored Car

I also like the look of the US M3 armored scout car. I don't think I've seen it before.

Ooh - that US M3 could be really cool - I'd like to see how that works.

Those are very cool! But what about this:

The BA-64, replacement for the BA-20.

If there are any modeling kits out there for this vehicle, it would be cool to see one in an IG army!

BA64, not familiar with it. But my uncle Google is!

http://www.aaamodels.co.uk/HTML/armour_ace.htm

These are all 1/72, too small for most 40k stuff, unless it's something really massive like a railroad gun.

And I'm not feeling the love. it's a bit too angular for a proper IG vehicle, almost looks modern.

the earlier cars have a good retro feel and are just a wee bit impractical which is what I think makes a 40k vehicle work.

I'm about halfway done with my 'wave 2' of civilian vehicles.

As predicted these kits were a NIGHTMARE to put together. Perhaps not as bad as the old metal-plastic predators but certainly the worst plastic I've ever worked with.

Flash, misalligned pieces, parts that break if you look at them funny, parts that don't fit, parts that cannot fit, mislabled instructions...

the worst was the tires. They're some rubbery plastic different from the rest of the kit and THEY JUST DIDN'T FIT into the wheels. At all.

So on the first one I just said #$$% it and cut them. I'll patch it with putty later. It was only after I cut them that I realized they were rubbery, and I could stretch them. So #2 was a lot easier but boy was I pissed.

Anyway I'll have more civilian trucks soon.

Damn you tires! Damn you to hell!

The nearly finished product.

FANTASTIC product, wide enough for a land raider, holds together without glue and looks great for any era from the 18th C up.

When I finish my current set I'll have a caravan battle.

Nice work on all these light military vehicles Kid, I dig 'em. The limos early in the thread are the best IMO, and the BEvo jeeps are kinda unfortunate in design ...

Altough armoured cars are very cool (but not as cool as tanks), I don't think that just putting a skull on it will integrate it into the 40K universe.
If I were you, I would make them more gothic and make them look heavier.
