No.... I'm not confused. Those armors don't come with the base game. They're expansions. You don't have to buy the expansion. All of the armors from the base game that we've see look nearly identical save for the fact that one is male and one is female.

But I would like to play the expansions too. I'm not taking issue with the whole game or ya I wouldn't care and wouldn't buy. I do have issues with some parts though. Also I have seen the rawhide armor and it's shortened skirt and low cut neckline, so yes it is even with the most base armor.

The armor sets are buildable. You start out in a loincloth, then the guys either sink or swim to the point of the other armor sets- ( that are as well interchangeable.)

You could have a leather armor top, and a sunstalker armor bottom if thats what you'd want to do. IMO, these guys really don't look like they're going to make it very far, anyway, so you might even be better just to up and use one or two base guys, write down the stuff you want them to have, and later on, if they are still around, you can go make a model for them at that point.

Please go read throught the background stuff. It will save you a lot of heart ache and your misconceptions.

Point in parcel of the issue is that these guys start out damn near naked. you have to pick up some stuff, make some weapons along the way, and try to progress against some pretty nasty stuff. THEN theres the issue of the settlement, in which you get to make some weapons armor sets, and then theres the facton play involvment.

Like I said, go back and dig through the information at hand, you are going to answer your own questions there.

I'm actually just planning on constructing the armor kits as they are with no mixing. They'll look better that way, and when I play different 'campaigns' with different people, each player will choose whichever figure best suits their character in its current iteration.

Armor will be changing around a lot anyways, and what matters most are your item cards. Everything else is aesthetics.

Grot 6, where can we read the background? Last time I asked, I was directed to the Kickstarter. I read all the updates and even the site they linked to, and there was barely anything. Is it all in the videos? Where is the fluff?

The videos give you the basic premise of the setting. The first one especially is the one you want for fluff.

Long story short, humans wake up basically naked in a world of darkness. They're the lowest on the 'food' chain. They make a settlement where lanterns are their salvation.

I personally don't understand how guns fit into all this, but I'm looking forward to pistols and rifles.

I'm planning on something similar- I might mix the bonus kits past 4, but the base ones will get regular treatment, since, yeah, they'll be changing all the time, and I'd rather have cool minis than strictly representative ones.

Unless I'm missing something, the rifles are actually stylized crossbows.

But, yes, one hunter has a pistol.

I guess those are all crossbows after all. Pity. But yeah, the female Game Hunter and the monster Manhunter both have a pistol.

I've always had a thing for going for a heavy tech focus in all games. I'd imagine it'll be unusually satisfying to start the game with a sharpened bone and end the game shooting the King with firearms.

FYI Kingdom Death got a restock on some of the general release models. Because I'm a sucker, I picked up a few of the models I don't have.

Not exactly related to this topic, but /tg/ is having a bit of flame war over this

Basically some people think if you dip the models you'll ruin them, while the other side says they're not as detailed as the resin so its fine to use quicky techniques

The things people debate about! (some really angry people even said you shouldnt even paint them if you consider dipping)

Even though the plastics are going to be $18 a pop, just how should you approach these minis when it comes to painting? This is of course pure speculation

"Dipping" is just a reckless form of using a wash. It makes things look better than just leaving flat colors. Not a fan of it myself, but to each their own. Better than having unpainted models, in a way.

Also, I love 4chan's sense of humor sometimes:

I would never dip KD miniatures. To each their own, but considering the quality and detail of these sculpts, I'd say that they're worth a much more precise treatment.

I wouldn't even consider dipping my KD minis. Granted, I don't dip anything, but I certainly wouldn't dip these.

Found this image while browsing the internet:

I don't think it's the infant. I also don't think we've seen a render of the Sunstalker past the concept art. This image dates back to August 7th 2012.

Oh well I know that pure dipping is a bit silly. Maybe a $2 ork or something but not an $18 KoD mini

Though the haters there seemed to be against washes all together

This is the Adult Stalker, it wasn't put on the KS page due to the penis, and KS rules about nudity. For the same reason the Illuminated Lady was never directly offered or talked about. I believe the Sunstalker concept art was also 'snipped' at a certain point to meet KS rules.

Is it December yet?

New update
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/poots/kingdom-death-monster/posts

I continue to be impressed by the work and attention to detail Adam is putting into this you can tell he really cares about the final product when he opts for more expensive components like the purple or black core cards and the urea dice most people probably won't even notice the difference. That's good news if he can ship from the EU that will save me a large chunk of VAT wonder what his big news will be?

Yay update with gigagallons of pictures!

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/poots/kingdom-death-monster/posts/450351?ref=activity

Spoiler:

So if you can imagine things have been really crazy here! I've got some big news I can share once all the paper work is signed off etc etc...

I will be able to give the final word on fulfilling rewards from within the EU once I have a final box count and the final box weight and dimensions are set in stone. Until then I can't make any promises, just expect everything to be shipped from the states until you hear otherwise.

We are down to just 300 people that need to confirm their pledges! This is excellent news and is far less stragglers then I initially expected. Anna has been working diligently thru everyones emails and making sure she takes care of each backers issues as it comes up. Its a pretty exhausting workload and it would have been simply impossible to manage that + everything else all at once.

For the card stock, we will be going either purple or black core for the extra snap they provide. Its more costly, but its totally worth it! The custom dice included in the game will be made from urea, which has a much nicer feeling then acrylic dice. It was interesting learning about it, as its a much older way to manufacture dice but it results in a slight glass feeling die with way more heft.

I've been hustling all the artists like crazy! Trying to include as much art as humanly possible before the print deadline.

Before we go into art dump mode, on behalf of all the artists, Anna, and Joe whom has taken over orders and customer service, I want to thank you all so much for this opportunity. Everyone is throughly enjoying the work!

What a meaty update, phenomenal art as always! I love the Green Knight armor renders, the weapon renders, the Gorm picture, and of course, the picture of the two survivors cuddling is adorable.

So, the picture after the chain whip (which looks awesome), the colored one of the survivors staring in horror at something. Is that a Watcher in some sort of egg in an abandoned lantern hoard? Because for some reason, that's really disturbing and intriguing if so!

Oh dammit, I did'nt know Poots asked that, should I go and alter the KD News post I made?

Really sorry guys.

------ Edit -------
Just updated it, all images removed and a direct link to the KS page update added, phew that was a tad embarrassing.

You mean the CGI Render? The filename states it's the Green Knight Armor. It's the armor set you get for the $300+ Herald of Death stage

As am I. Unsettling, really. How many times did he say that it was just a display piece and the game would come with a printed board? I mean, I'm sorry, but $100 for all those miniatures and the game itself is a STEAL. Did they really think they were getting a 2 foot by 3 foot 3D board with it? Just the board itself would cost you $100 at most places, if not more. I'm personally really happy with how the board looks.

I don't understand that it looks "too location specific" either. With a variety of environments to fight creatures in (whether it be right outside a settlement, inside an abandoned settlement, out in the wild, etc) there's no way for one board to make all of them feel right at home.

I'm not surprised

as you did actually have to read stuff/watch the whole video/pick it up in the comments/updates

people do tend to go 'ooo shiney' and not pay any more attention than that

I do like the finished board though (and the bad moon re-colour especially
