Finally got round to finishing my webway portal this morning, it measures 12" diameter and approx 7.5" high. I was getting sick of fighting Imperial forces in imperium themed terrain so I've started giving my pointy eared little chaps something different to fight over. I'll be adding more Eldar themed pieces in the future.

Very nice. What did you make the pillars from? For the games where you don't use it, it would still make a great stand on which to stage reinforcements. I was going to make a small tray that looked like a teleporter gird with a small spot where I coud put a die to track the turn of entry.

Great piece of terrain there. I really like the central glyphs.

Very pretty.

I wanna see someone build one big enough for a titan to walk through. Fluff says they have them big enough for their cruisers to fly through.

Wow, I think there needs to be another thread about this in P&M tutorials.

10/10, it's beautiful and completely adheres to their fluff/art style!

These look great! What materials were used for the spires? How did you cut the swiss cheese holes? Are the gems applique or otherwise?

I third the request for a tutorial!

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

Thank you all for the comments, very much appreciated. The materials used were as follows;

6mm MDF baseboard
5mm foamcard
4mm (approx) laser cut MDF spines RRP £10.50. These are available from an Ebay seller
PVA glue
All purpose filler
100mm round resin temple base from Foundations of War ebay shop, about £3.50 I think.

WIP pics;
The foamcard cut, shaped and sanded. Second layer apllied on top to act as the outer step;

Thin coat of general filler;

The vanes with the edges rounded off and sanded;

Dry fit assembly stage;

Sanded down and stonework scored into the dried filler with an old biro pen;

Gravelling stage;

Base coating the model;

When the painting was complete, the gems were then applied. These were also from Foundations of War Ebay shop as resin alien accessories.

I still want to know how you did the cut outs on the vanes:

Ebsolom Dhaark wrote:

The circles on the edges look easy enough with a drill press and a coring bit, but the series of three straight cut-outs and the three oval shaped ones I can't figure out. Plus, what did you do the get the cuts so precise and straight? I know that the smoothness of the cuts is from sanding, but the precise straightness blows me away.

They almost looks like they were cut by a computer-guided scroll saw...

Please, do tell. In detail!

Ghidorah,

He listed the spines as purchased from an Ebay dealer, lasercut MDF. That would account for the precision.

Wow... this is very nice looking.

Perhaps you could make two, and have special rules for them... In game, if you go "in" one, you come out the other...
Shooting would work this way too! (so shooting "through" a portal would potentially allow you to "hit" a target near the other one!

I LOVE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lacking a concrete argument that this is wrong; and lacking a FAQ to make this clear - we then must have some faith that when there's clearly just a vocal minority arguing RAW incessantly and trying to overturn what a thousand-times-their-number of people have interpreted the rules to mean that the vocal minority is loud, but also wrong.
"Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."
