So , last week I got some of my boys archers done as a trial ( 30 odd left to do ) .

And got a fair bit done on my Anvil Industry counts as Nazi Nurgle Traitor Guard. Not entirely happy yet , maybe still too WIP , but perhaps the brown weapons don't really "fit" . Would black / grey be better ?

And started some Anvi Black Ops marines , they are a little darker than I usually do , and I haven't applied any oils yet. Might be on the wrong track with these too !

Comments Please !!!

And just for a bit of variation , I put a few hours adding details to my new pride and joy, a scratch built 40k themed STUG III for my Nurgle Nazi Zombies.

The yellow tube is being used as a junction for the real barrel once I've made it , tho actually it doesn't look that bad as the weapon itself. What do you reckon ?

I have some 40K Panzer IV's too , tho they are still missing tracks, turrets etc .

The STUG was built by OneManNoodles and I must say I am extremely happy with it, in hindsight I might have asked for track fenders but possibly would've lost a lot of it 40k-ness in doing so.
In short "happy"

Love the Black Ops and scratch built tank! That thing is a real beast!

The camo on the marines looks more like weathering ATM. A lot of the camo patches look as random and "edgy" (for lack of a better word) as scratches made with a sponge. Maybe that's just me though...

For the Nurgle Guard's weapons, why no camp them also? You could then add wear and tear with black/dark grey.

Great job, keep it up!

Praise the emperor, bless your weapon and pass the ammo!

Yeah , I love the STUG 40 (my new name for it) Not sure what scheme to paint it but I'm going to enjoy it !

I see what you mean about the Camo. The chipping and cam pattern is very similar. Hopefully some oils and a few highlights will cure that somewhat.

Thanks for the comments!!

Yeah, I'm the best, me !!!!!!

To be fair its because:
a) My OCD can't handle my boy playing with unpainted armies.
b) They were bought about 15 years ago when my eldest boy played, so its not like I'm rushing.
c) Its easier to justify my own time expenditure painting if I do some of his too !!!!

Can you ever have enough ?

I was pleasantly surprised how well the heads fit on the Anvil stuff, a quick snip and drill out the pocket for the head and done !

If we all chipped in could we start NoodleDefence Resin Casters ?

Yes those heads look spot on

I really can't buy marines its against my religion I worship the underdog cannon fodder guard (whatever the form mind)

However the way you interpret yours kind of makes me feel like they are more super guard

That would depend on how many like minded individuals we drag in !!!! :-)

I'm not keen on most peoples (GW's) interpretation. True.
Google search "Reasonable Marines" for my take on them !

Feeling shamed into posting as I've been very lazy lately.

The Stug is about ready for primer. Not sure if I'll go for a plain grey colour or a more involved camo scheme yet.

I oil "pin washed" the Nazi zombies as I wasn't happy with the Argrax Earthshade nightmare I had before, they're beginning to look a bit better now , will need some highlights I think.

And lastly some Death Guard heads on the cheap.

Criticisms please !

Good stuff man, the Stug's looking great, although personally I would have put some track guards on top. A sneaky tank killer deserves some full on camo I think. Or a good set opf camo netting over a grey hull?

You're right mate , if I'd thought about it for more than the 5 seconds i did , I would have put some track guards on ! Too late now I primed it this afternoon in the warm sun !

Not sure how that will turn out, picked up some acrylic matt black paint from Aldi for £2:95 a can !!!!

I'm thinking something along real WW2 Stug lines for the camo, maybe a version of the Ambush pattern?

Today went so well at first.

A day off work with nothing to do but paint.

The Good. I finished off some Anvil "AfterLife " infantry with Nazi Zombie heads. I think these are pretty sweet sculpts , I like them a lot and they painted up pretty sweet too.

The Bad.

I really over did the oils on these Black Ops marines , to try and correct some truly awful Argrax Earthshade that turned white when it dried.
Will probably have to re-do the mid colour and highlights of the Desert Yellow, depressed about re-doing all those Camo dots again tho !

The Ugly.

And this last one really breaks me up. I spent most of the day applying oil washes and tints , layer after layer creating what i truly believe was some of my best work ever and when I came to seal it in I went for the easy option of the cursed can of GW varnish and the fething thing frosted up and now all I have is a layer of grey on everything .

Remind me to never buy GW paints again, and to only every use my airbrush to put on varnish, which were both sat laughing at me as I battered my head on the hobby desk cursing GW…..

Any one know how to reliably fix grey frosted varnish ?

After searching Dakka I found the cure for frosted matt varnish to be a coat of spray gloss varnish, this did the trick and I sprayed the Dread and Defiler afterwards with my airbrush to avoid further disaster.

Dread is almost done, want to give him a swanky base to stand on.

Defiler pictured below. Was a bugger to photo because the matt varnish was more like satin.
Criticisms welcome.

I find that first image of the defiler quite sexually unnerving and very inappropriate for young viewers...... :-)

paint job is great as usual but the angle gives him a pose not unlike I've seen in some *ahem* magazines....

Not a lot of painting done this weekend, but did get a game of "Zone Hulk" in with my boy. I'll get it painted one day.

Apologies for the patterned rug !

Got the basic colours on the Stug 40 , looks a little harsh at the minute but I'm sure it will look sweet with the details , chipping. and weathering on.

I've got a set of extra armour side plates that I've done in the same scheme, but I'm toying with "graffiti" ing them with Nurgle symbols for the Traitor guard I'm working on.
Thoughts ?
