I dunno...

Take some advice from me;

If you cant paint eyes, DON'T paint eyes, at 28mm and with the squinty poses GW favours, nobody's going to care

Yeah thanks for the advice but the eyes will be repainted so they are both about equal size and thats how i do all of my figures eyes because i have to pay attention to detail. Thats just my habit cant leave them unpainted because to me they aren't finished. My mom and dad looked through a magnifying glass and they couldn't tell the difference till i showed them some pics but hey some people have odd eyes.

I dunno...

OK, No offence but I don't REALLY see the point of posting a tutorial that basically says:

Paint skin a colour

do it with the hair

paint eyes, teeth, metal etc.

Done

I expected a few highlights or something

Yeah, this kind of tutorial really just states things that readers already know. All the steps you described are no-brainers to anybody older than five years old.

Really, if you suck at painting eyes that look straight then they should not have pupils at all. If you were to just paint the eyes white and not try to dot them you would achieve much better results.

Couldn't you at least throw on a wash of some kind?

I'm not to sure how to do highlights and or a wash. Just some tips on how i can improve it and constructive criticism is nicer than just saying oh wow you are basically telling everyone something that they could already know. I put this up for people who are new to painting and Warhammer as a whole especially those who are going to collect Cadians. But i thought this forum as a whole was to get people in to the hobby and not to knock the wind out of their sails.

Google-Eyes FTW.

Just paint them black, looks better

Perhaps you should look at some of the other tutorials on face painting... To see how to properly present a tutorial, of course.

To avoid google-eye syndrome:

Paint a big white splotch on each eye, not worrying about keeping it in bounds.

Paint a thin black line through the splotch, crossing the center of the eye.

Then paint the skin-tone, covering the white and black around the eye itself.

The trick is, you almost always want to have the pupil touch the top and bottom eyelids (unless the model's eyes are HUGE) because on this scale, doing otherwise gives the model a surprised 0_0 sort of look.

This is much better than I could have done Great effort!

I think it's great to go for the pupils in the eyes, ketsugami's tip sounds like a good one, too! I'd like to see pics of you trying a few more. It looks like the left pupil is a little low, otherwise I think it turned out great.

I'd put a dot of white over the left one and try it again, and then show us the results

I tend not to do eyes because I find unless you are really good at them (which I am not) they just look daft and far too 'stary' for my liking
On the tabletop you cant really see eyes anyway unless you are looking up close

For painting my cadians, i do a basecoat of chaos black, followed by a layer of tallarn flesh.

Block out the black and let the tallarn flesh dry.

Once dry, do a wash of Devlan Mud. Make sure the wash flows into the recesses. (Eyes, mouth, cheeks, etc.)

Once that's dry do a light dry brush of dwarf flesh on the raised areas.

If you want to take an extra step or so you can then pick out the most raised details with Elf flesh and even a SUPER light layer of pure White.

Dab a little mix of Red/White onto the lower lip to give the model the reddish color of our lips.

For scars, you can do a light wash of purple, followed by a highlight of dull pinkish color for old scar tissue.

For new, angry scars. Do a wash of Baal Red on the just the Scar area. Let that dry and highlight the raised detail of the scar with a dark red. I use GW Red Gore and/ore Scab red

Why all the complaining? Don't you guys know Cadians have ALWAYS had googly eyes, since way back in 2ed.

It's because they're watching that pesky Cadian Gate, and the Chaos could come from any direction!

The googly eyes mean Extra Alert....

Another good trick for eyes is to not use white, but try mixing in a hint of skin tone or grey. I use Vallejo's white grey. This helps tone them down some and avoids as much of a OMG look, even if they are a tad large.

Have you picked up GW's "How to Paint Citadel Miniatures" book? It definitely is worth the time for the price since it goes into many different techniques and approaches to the subject. You can go a long way just picking various techniques and trying them out.
