My quick math says that MSRP on what they listed is only $1066.75...

Could this be like the board + planetstrike terrain deal and not actually be a deal?

It also comes with Sicarius, which isn't in the calculations. So I am sure it is just equaling the MSRP of all the stuff. Way to get people excited GW!

You would expect to much! But seriously I thought to myself when I saw the force or this would be a totally cool set to have if they deep discount it. But I guess out i'm. I can assemble all that stuff for much, much cheaper. Makes me a little sad. Oh well, back to painting.

All I have to say is what a crap deal.

I wish they would bring back some of those Apocalypse deals that they had awhile back. Most were crap but a few were actually decent.

Dont even mention it, i still have nightmares thinking about the nid army deal that never got here... First I ordered it at my flags... they delayed things for 1.5 months and only after I insisted they confirmed that GW would not ship it to them ( I still have a hard time swallowing that) then I ordered at a ebay store and my order mysteriously got lost on mail so I had to be refunded... lets just say by the time I ordered at GW online store it was discontinued... So frustating!

and its going for i believe 612 GBP so over 900 USD

That's actually a really great set. Too bad no one will ever buy it for that price. If GW really wanted to sell these they'd retail it for $750 USD.

Well figure this the apoc space marine company was $450 us. That came with 6 tac squads 2 assault squads 2 devastator squads a command squad 8 rhinos and a razorback and was a good deal for someone who did that the old fashioned way one box at a time. This is still a deal but a small one.

So let me get this straight - the Spearhead is offered at... no savings?

with the new prices to buy everything in that box will be $1260.25 USD

the price will be from what ive read on the other thread is 613 GBP

so around $990 USD if it sells for around that you save over $250 USD

OTOH, if you count a $90 SM Battalion as
- 20 SM (swap 5 Scouts for 5 Tacs)
- 5 Assault
- 1 Rhino
Then, thats $360 for 4 Battalions so add:
+1x 5 Command ($25)
+2x Dev sprues ($15 = $30)
+4x Rhinos ($30 = $120)
+1x Razor ($35)
= $205 extras for a grand total of $560, so a $450 price is an extra 20% savings on top of the Battleforces.

The Sicarus "deal" isn't.

2 other space marine players and myself were looking at 1 and splitting it up for what we need

1066 for a box set? I hated buying the 250 dollar army deals.. multiply that by 4 and that's 4 times the reason for me to say no..

I tend to think that for something over $1000, even uber rich parents are going to draw the line and say "No, Billy, that's just way, way too ridiculously expensive for a box of toy soldiers. Let's just get you the $100 box."
I honestly have no idea who they think is going to spend that much. SM players already have their SM armies. People just starting SMs are going to start with something a little more manageable, not to mention cheaper. And all the non-SM players are just going to be irritated that GW was wasting time on the millionth iteration of a tactical marine instead of updating something for SMs to fight against.

This is just terrible. I would be iffy on spending $500 unless it was a good discount and had a lot of stuff I want. As is, I hate most battleforces because they end up having a few things I want and a lot of stuff I don't, so I"m just wasting money on models I don't want to play. I'll stick with one box at a time for now.

In Australia the set will be selling for $1500 according to my local GW, That will be about $250 AU savings from retail but buying it from most web stores separately you could get it for a little less then $1100 AU.

Absolutely ridiculous.

I hope they don't sell a single one.
