GW now has everything that's coming for Planetstrike up for pre-order. Of course, I don't know why you'd bother, especially when other companies, such as Maelstrom Games UK, also have everything up for pre-order as well.

And for my fellow Australian brethren, here is why you should skip GW and instead order from Maelstrom:

Imperial Strongpoint from GWOZ:
AUD$150

Imperial Strongpoint from Maelstrom:
AUD$101.60

Blastscape from GWOZ:
AUD$33

Blastscape from Maelstrom:
AUD$22.20

And there's no shipping costs from Maelstrom either.

Nice prices. Unfortonitly I don't have over $100 of Maelstorm credit saved up to buy all the cool new stuff with.

LOL.

While I don't disagree that Maelstrom Games are awesome (and they are, they truly are!) this post sounds too much like an advertisement for Maelstrom rather than a friendly informative post.

Of course, i'll be buying the new Planetstrike terrain from Maelstrom

Ohh! Metaphors!

Dakka must logically be a fence then. And I'm mould, Fraz is the cranky old man with a shotgun glaring at the neighbour's kids, and Warseer is that bunch of kids who scribble on the fence and kick balls at the loony old bloke.

Why is the chaos bastion so much more expensive than the imperial one? It has spiky bits, but it doesn't have the giant lascanon..

Anyway, I don't think I ever thanked you for pointing me over to Maelstrom Games.

Many orders later, and I'm a believer in their quality service.

Plus I get a kick out of seeing an international package where the customs declaration states the contents of my package as "TOY SOLDIERS"

I'd love if there was a second wave of Planetstrike Terrain.

It does. It'll have the Lascannon and the Sensor/Comm-Array just like the standard one, it just comes with a full set of vehicle accessory sprues - it's not like they're going to cut them off the sprues for a special release*. Of course, as I pointed out in the last thread about said item, the people who will want Chaos Bastions are Chaos players, and most Chaos players need more spikes and skulls like they need a fething hole in the head...

*If it does not come with the Lascannon/Comm-Array, I will be astonished.

I believe it comes with two spiky vehicle sprues, not one.

Okay, I'm torn right now.

Two websites, Mealstrom and thewarstore, both of which have been getting incredible feedback, both of which have pretty much the same prices. Both ship to where I live.

maelstrom is "exchange rate dependent." that's the only problem with it when the GPB is 1 to 1.6x USD.

The War Store is great and I order from them several times per year. However, regarding the Imperial Strongpoint bundle deal, I recently wrote to them and asked if they would be carrying it and the answer was no, they won't have access to that item. At least it does have a bundle price on it at $90 US, saving about $29 US over buying what is in it separately. Also, the Blastscape and Mines, Bombs, Booby Traps limited release sets may be Direct Only in the US so you'll also likely order those directly from GW, especially if you want to be assured of getting those limited quantity items. Everything else should hopefully be available in unlimited quantities from The War Store since the rest of the Planestrike releases are regular stock items.

Support your local FLGS and tell the online parasites to shove it, imo.

There is an attitude that not having an insanely optimized, one shot, six stage, omnidirectional, inevitable, mousetrap of an assassin list army somehow means that you have foolishly wasted your life building 500 points of pure, 24 karat, hand rolled, fine, cuban fail. That attitude has been shown, under laboratory conditions, to cause cancer of the fun gland.

First of all, he was inquiring about online businesses, so your opinion isn't really needed or desired and you're the one who can "shove it", imo.

Second, have you stopped to consider that maybe he doesn't have a local store? Or if he does he doesn't want to support them for some reason? Maybe they aren't so "friendly", maybe they don't have a very impressive selection, maybe the tables and terrain suck or he doesn't like the people who play there?

Whilst I whole heartedly agree with your sentiment of supporting your local store, they do need to deserve it. Maelstrom and The Warstore both have frankly incredible reputations, to the degree I don't recall ever hearing a bad word against them. Whereas the only FLGS' that opened up near to me were pretty pants. One was out in the middle of nowhere, offering no real discount. Thus it was more expensive for me to buy there than my local GW, which was in the same town I lived and worked in. The other was just rubbish. You'd go in looking for a purchase, spend half an hour looking for the right blister in his mess of shelving system, then spend another half hour at the till waiting to be served whilst he played Magic The Gathering with his cronies up the back of the shop. Neither are now around.

However, GW wise, I do now belong to the rather spiffy Hydra Gaming Club in Tunbridge Wells (Wednesdays, Robin Hood Pub, Tunbridge Wells. Space for loads of tables, and far from limited to GW games. Come see us for a free trial period!) which means I can shop pretty much wherever. I'll still get most of my gubbins from the local GW (rather have it and not really use it, than not have it if that makes sense) but the pricier stuff will be procured from a reputable online seller. There's a website I've heard about. Something like a bad weather storm. Whirlwind? Hurricaine? Ringing any bells with anyone?

The Warstore has been a long, longtime advertiser on Dakka, whereas Maelstrom never has (to my knowledge). So between the two I'd definitely recommend the Warstore. Both because they've never let me down as a customer and because they help support Dakka as well.

My local store sucks, the people running it are asses and they rarely have what i want in stock. They don't deserve my business.

For what it is worth I got to play (and assemble) a 'shrine of the aquilla' set the other day and it is huge.

If it didn't have the holes (i.e. windows) it could hide a valkyrie behind it.
