An excellent video review! I had no intention of purchasing either of these kits but after seeing them I may pick up a bastion to build and donate to my local store. Thanks for your efforts.

I had no idea the bastion was meant to be modular. Our group will likely end up getting a few to populate tables with all kinds of mini bunkers!

Yep, that Bastion kit looks great.

I too had no idea it was meant to be a more modular building.

Looks like you'll be able to create some neat smaller bunkers.

Plus a lot of the pieces look like they'll be nice for various conversions.

That's what I plan to do. Make a few small, a few normal, and a few tall! And I'm warming to the Landing Pad. I'm not about to go out and get any, but I can see a couple in my future down the line.

the chapel of sanctuary released in early 2007 was a "dark angels building." It ran $70 unless you picked it up from Maelstrom Games. For some reason theirs was $25.

And it makes the dwarf terrain look like utter crap. This thing has a felt bottom.

No I might not as it happens as I found something more interesting about the Bastion. Not only are they modular vertically, they're modular horizontally as well.

I won't know sure sure until I can play around with the sprues, but it appears that you can attack the ground level/floor section to other ones, just leaving out a wall, giving you double-wide bunkers. Then you can have a tower on one of them (probably not both) and make them into more interesting armoured complexs.

Got a look at the new buildings yesterday. The Bastion is a great kit, the Landing Pad is huge and the hinged side panels work really well. And then there's the new Shine of the Aquila CoD-style building - that impressed me the most. It's three stories high, contains new floors, has great detail and just looks amazing.

Such info is dangerous to my wallet...

I'm hoping that the fit of the pieces allow for magnetizing so that you can use the base as a small buker by adding roof/parapet or add middle section then roof to build the standard full build, etc., etc. It would be nice to be able to change it up from game to game for maximum use/value. Time will tell..

The one I saw yesterday did not have the tower glued on, so it could be removed and put back on at will. You could place things inside the ground level bunker. No second roof for the bunker though, so you'd always be able to see into it - not that that's a bad thing.

Also saw the comm array (that will break very easily - lots of long thin bits of plastic), the Lascannon, which goes up and down and has two different mounts that it slots easily into, and the Quad Qutocannon which is just bitchin'. From what I can tell they'll fit into a Razorback-style turret mount as well, meaning you could do Quad AC house-rule Razorbacks!!!

Hey folks. Thanks very much for all your views and comments. We have been very happy by the immensely positive reaction these videos recieved.

We are currently working on the modelling videos for both kits. With the plan to have them uploaded to youtube sometime today.

the pricing isn't half bad either.. I was expeting 40 dollars and up..

I liked the landing pad before.. but when today i realised that the outer parts of it were in fact retractable armor shielding for defenders on top of the pad i'm damn crazy for it. I brought a valk with stormtroopers today. Need a landing pad for a terrain board at home ;p

My love for you is like a XV88 twin-linked railgun, which is twin-linked with another set of railguns, with added railguns for more railguning action, but that would be lacking so we have to add more twin-linked railguns onto the stack.... then to top it off we attach a heavy Railgun onto it's head..... heavy railguns *drools over keyboard*

I'm definitely building a doublewide bunker. Maybe only one tower, but the base is extra wide. A FOUR-square bunker would be sick too.

Looks pretty simple to do if you base it on a board. It's lame that there is no bottom to the bastion though.

The landing pad doesn't seem to have any way of getting off it other than jumping onto the ground. If you've got to jump to get down then why not just jump out the back of the valk or whatever and save the hassle of having to have a landing pad?
Blast shields are all fine and dandy for protection when boarding the craft but you still have to somehow climb onto the pad.
Why couldn't a ramp have been included into the design? It's going to be a real bastard for any troops who want to move heavy equipment or injured mates.

I do like the look of it, just think the lack of access to the ground is silly.

It has a ladder on the inside of each leg, and hatches through the Landing Pad.

Played a game of Planet Strike today as an event thing at the GW. The buildings are good, but I saw them a while ago at another GW. Temple of the Aquila comes with those three story walls as single pieces though. Planet strike seems to play well also. The sky sheild is pretty big as well, it was fun to guard it with some Chaos terminators. Also you will probably see a lot of craters used in nearly any game of Planet Strike.

The defensive line should be the easiest plastic kit, just the flak to assemble...
And i want to see someone doing a conversion. Needs longer barrels for a Hydra.

Also liked the Skyshield. Simple kit with only a few parts. Just 1/2 hour to assemble.

Got to read the planetstrike book now.....
