Well After reading the 'Ard Boyz scenarios, and studying the current meta game (Mobile Vets, Seer Counsel, LR Spam, Dual Lash, Battle Wagons, etc.) I decided that the standard Raider spam was going to be gimped beyond repair.

So I came up with a counter meta list. It focus' on a large gun line of lances (32 total in the list) to take care of all the pesky armor out there right now, it also utilizes Talos as a counter assault / decoy. The wyches and one raider squad will either be held in reserve or will roll down one flank to take an objective. Squads of 20 warriors where chosen to increase the body count required to score KPs, and to keep they from running.

It looks like a pretty solid list, just one thought, what are you using for crowd control? I just see anti swam lacking but then again, I've never played as dark eldar, perhaps you have a plan.

Where'd you find the ard boyz senarios.

Under the current metagame the only swarm that I am likely to face will be "The Green Horde"

Swam armies rely on a lot of close combat units, wyches with there ability to negate extra attacks and half weapon skill, along with there +4 invul save will tar-pit most large mobs.

Also the Talos with 7 toughness is great for making low str mobs think twice.

Not to mention that I have 79 Rapid fire splinter rifles

Wyches got a bit more gimped...you only halve weapon skill when you're being attacked. When you're attacking, weapon skills stay normal, meaning you're likely to be needing 4s to hit, not 3s.

Keep in mind that R1 has Night Fight in effect. You're going to lose a turn of shooting, which could be the difference between shooting down enough rhinos/speeders to cripple your opponent, and... not.

I play Warmahordes. It's simply a better game.

As clarified, this will be the case for the first 2 games, but yes your shooting is going to lose some effectivness.

JohnHwangDD - The 40k YMDC stuff is almost entirely TFG-manufactured BS.

The biggest problem i see is you need more mobility in your warriors try dropping 5 from each squad and loading up with 1 or 2 squads in Raiders with Nightshields .

This way you can quickly claim objectives.

While that it is true that they do not hit as often as they used to, I think you are still playing with a 3/4th mentality. They have changed from a "Hammer" unit to a "Anvil" there main purpose is to tar-pit more expensive units and lend there transports to the warriors on turn 4-5.

Keep in mind that R1 has Night Fight in effect. You're going to lose a turn of shooting, which could be the difference between shooting down enough rhinos/speeders to cripple your opponent, and... not.


That is a good point. But in those situations I will be altering my setup accordingly, not to mention in NF rules I always choose to go second (and more often than not my opponent wants to go first thanks to the "OH NOES RAIDERS!" mentality.)

The biggest problem i see is you need more mobility in your warriors try dropping 5 from each squad and loading up with 1 or 2 squads in Raiders with Nightshields .

The warriors from damaged squads are going to use the wyche raiders in the last turns of the game. Not to mention that there is only 1 scenario that has points outside the deployment zone.

It's not really a list that will hurt the current meta game. Mechdar have a much better chance. Sure it is a lot of lances and a lot of bodies but lances aren't the same anymore with the new armor penetration table.

I'm torn on this because I want to see DE do well as they're a freaking cool army.

But at the same time, if they do "too" well then GW will not give them the attention they need and use the results to justify the means.

Kind of like MLB and not having a salary cap.

Just wondering how you get the count to 32 dark lances? (which would be an impressive number).

I can only count 15 lances in your list.

Just wanted to mention it, there is a BIG difference between 15 and 32 lances after all.

I just realized that you must be including your blasters in your lance total (17 blasters). Doh! OK, you can do that of course.
I wouldnt equate them with Dark Lances myself because of the big difference between 36" are and 12" r...

But you certainly have enough antitank.

The problem is the crazy amount of melta that every other army is bringing, a talos can statisticly take 8+ shots with a melta before going down.

A ravager can take 1-2

Unless I have 90+ Shoota Boyz, in which case your Wyche squad will disappear in a cloud of red mist to 180 S4 Assault 2 Dakka.

I play a wraithzilla list and this type of army is scary (I HATE agonizers!!!) but one thing that you can't do anything about is the ld 8, getting pinned happens all too often (I played a few games against DA and pinned a lot of squads with EML/snipers).

Have you thought of splitting up some warriors squads (so you have 6 troops) and also maybe dropping some of the warriors to beef up or upgrade other units?

I am willing to take that chance, I doubt you will get all three, and if you do a list like that will get hosed by mech vets so I doubt there will be that many shooty hordes.


Have you thought of splitting up some warriors squads (so you have 6 troops) and also maybe dropping some of the warriors to beef up or upgrade other units?


I have 6 troops, one is a raider squad to come in off reserves and capture points slightly out of my deployment zone.


As for the upgrades, there are not a lot of options for the other squads, the DE codex was written over 10 years ago.
