It's been 30 years since Ridley Scott's movie was first released. 23 years since the James Cameron sequel (wow, I'm old, I remember seeing it in the theaters). Pretty self explanatory - what was your favorite of the series (and for completeness, I've included the AvP films).

They made a sequel to Aliens? I've never even heard of those other films.

In the same sense that George Lucas made three prequels to Star Wars - yes.

Hey AVP was a great popcorn flick. The other ones did suck eggs though.

I think you really have to separate Alien vs. Aliens though. The first was a sublime ground breaking horror movie in a sci fi setting. The second was a roller coaster ground breaking action movie in a sci fi setting. Both were awesome cubed.

Aliens, easily my favorite. Poor, poor Wiersbowski [or however you spell it.]

Here's my quick synopsis of the films:

Alien: Haunted house in space
Aliens: Vietnam movie in space
Alien 3: The big letdown. Haven't I seen this before? This is what happens when studio execs get to plot a movie.
Alien Resurrection: I was more interested in Winona Ryder being a second-gen synthetic than the rest of plot
AvP: Not as good as Alien, Aliens, Predator, or Predator 2. Why do you take firearms on an archeological dig in Antarctica?
AvP2: Not seen it. Heard it has some redeeming qualities. Might get it from On Demand some weekend.

Don't waste your time on AVP II. It has some interesting moments but its pretty lame.

Ridley Scott is linked to an Alien prequel. It could be really good. Mostly because Hollywood may have finally realized that you don't have to have Sigourney Weaver in every Alien film. As HR Giger said, it's "Alien" not "Ripley".

Alien: Interesting as we see learn abit on where Aliens come from ( some what )
Aliens: "bug hunt" everyone likes the action
Alien 3: Mixing religion , faith , with a sci fi monster hmm....
Alien Resurrection: It has a very good potential ( shows ALOT of the "Company" ) ruined by the monkey man and the wheel chair guy . As well as bad macabre jokes.
AvP: ( worse then Predator 1 and 2 )
AvP2: How can a R Rated movie be so tame? Either the script writer is dumb , or the director is dumb for going along with it.
In the beginning of the film , we see father and son gratuitously slaughtered without any sense of drama. Its so awful , just like watching Friday the 13 th

I saw AVPR with my brothers when it came out. The best part was when some goth kid threw up and started bitching to his dad that he wanted to leave so he could change.
After twenty minutes they do. And then the rest of the movie was a straightup crapfest.

I think Aliens was the best movie, but I that is because it was so iconic to me as a kid.

Did anybody else go see Alien when they had the 25th Anniversary Edition at the theatres several years ago? It is still really creepy and it looked fantastic.

I have to admit it's a tie between Alien and Aliens for me,as both are fantastic films.
I didn't care much for the other films (although Alien Resurrection had it's moments),and I HATED AVPR,the movie was so fething dark I couldn't see half of what was happening on screen, and what I did see was pure crap.

Tame? Uh, yeah, a kid getting a hole ripped in him is really tame, Luna. Sure, so is that guy getting ripped apart in the pool, and the pregnant woman 'giving birth' to multiple chestbursters.

And Friday the 13th is epic. Freddy got some competition at last.

But anyway, Aliens was the best one for me. The first one was kind of boring after the first couple of deaths, and after that, the only high point for me was that Ash getting his head knocked off. And what was with the totally docile xenomorph at the end? I hate how Ripley has plot armour. Multiple xenomorphs make it more intense and the hive scene was pretty freaky.

Aliens is just awesome action and i liked the characters.
Alien 3 was terrible, i mean it was weird the Alien was born from a dog? It has a link to Ripley? (I realy didnt understand that)

Its strange in Alien, there one of them kills everyone. Aliens they kill about several hundred of them. Alien 3 they cant handle one of them, i thought a whole bunch of Killers could handle an Alien, apprently not.

Yep tame , and i'll say it again . Someone been gratuitously slaughtered in the beginning of the film when we dont know or care about the char
has way less impact before we get to know the developed character.

That and gore and violence doesnt scare me .

Same, I think an Alien popping out of nowhere in front of your face is scarier than what its gonna do to your face.

Well of course it's hardly a scary movie, but I wouldn't consider it tame. I'm not familiar with America/Canada's rating systems, but I'm assuming the Restricted rating is for 15+ or something? Over here, it's MA15+. Most films which get smacked with an R18+ label get cut to MA for cinemas and TV.

The Face Huggers can attach themselves to any living creature to impregnate them, like how they can infect the Predator, the weird cows, lizards and monkeys in the one graphic novel. The Alien didn't have a connection to Ripley but to the unborn Queen inside of Ripley.

They were a bunch of unarmed Prisoners, and in Aliens the Marines get there their asses handed to them, in one Ripley manages to win by pretending she isn't there and blowing it into space.
