I'm posting this here as in my opinion, it's one of the best palces to communicate through our hobby.
As most of you will know by now (if your club is a member of the GCN), there have been some serous problems over the last 12 months.
After speaking to our club, and to other committee members of other clubs, our club chairman has posted the following on the GCN website:
I'm not doing this lightly or unadvisedly, but in the opinion of my Club GCN is just not functioning as it should.
Issues surrounding effective communication still abound and as an organisation not only are we stagnating but we're actually going backwards.
Many Club representatives weren't present at this years AGM by virtue of not actually being informed. Now I was advised that I should subscribe to the GCN update, which I have done. I still await my first communique.
My concern is that we need to have the right people in the right jobs, I have to say I'm not wholly convinced that this is currently the case. The GCN should be a driving force within the Gaming Community, bringing Clubs together and promoting the hobby we all love to a wider audience. I do not believe that this is currently the case. Instead we have what appears to be a politically motivated organisation with a constitution more in keeping with that of a militant Union, than that of a Hobbyist.
In my role as Chairman of the 1st Company Veterans I have had the privilige of being able to talk to our colleagues at GW who have shown great support to my Club. They have indicated to me that they also agree that the GCN needs to modernise, improve it's communication and put more emphasis on the joy of our hobby.
Under the terms of our constitution it requires member Clubs to call for an emergency general meeting. 1st Company Veterans believes that one is required. Do any other clubs concur?

Paul Welsh

1st Company Veterans Nottingham
What we want to do is get the GCN working for all clubs, not just the select few that the council is friends with. This can be acheived by calling for a Emergency General Meeting.
If your club is a GCN club, and you wish to have a say, please either post here, or send me a PM and we'll do our best to make your voice heard.
Many thanks,
Darryl.
I pulled this from Warseer (I don't have an account so I thought I'd post it here.) Does anyone know anything about this? communication from the GCN is indeed weak, our club is no longer displayed on their site and In all likelyhood we will be severing our ties with the GCN. I'm hard pressed to think of a single useful thing that has come from our membership.
