Truly awesome, muzzle.
Glad to see another parent who isn't stuck with gender stereotypes about gaming.

I started them on Car Wars on a track I built years ago. We worked with just racing and crashing, once they got that down it was on to 40k small 250 infantry battles. Then came Space Hulk, the game that brought me into 40k 20 years ago...... Meeeewwwwwhahahhahaha
AS for the first post, well I am glad these are moderated boards; it is a shame the first reply had to be a sick joke.

My youngest is 11.
We lived in the Richmond, VA area during Hurricane Isabel (sp?). She was 5 then.
We lost power for 4 and a half days.
During that time, she fell in love with Talisman. To this day, it's one of her favorite games , and I get requests to play it REGULARLY.
I plan on eventually introducing her to BloodBowl & Space Hulk
As is, she's painting her own minis and looking forward to 40K and D&D.

That is so great that you take the time to teach your daughters a fun game not traditionally aimed towards young girls. The seem to be having fun. Hopefully in a few years they will stomp over a few boys in a GW shop and teach them manners at the same time.
|
2014 will be the year of zero GW purchases. Kneadite instead of GS, no paints or models. 2014 will be the year I finally make the move to military models and away from miniature games. |

That's cool, I think all kids should be enjoying games like space hulk or building tree houses instead of being caught up in gender stereotyped games or buying dolls that look like hookers (have you seen those bratz dolls, jeez!).
Well done mate.

My eldest boy is 8 and has been nagging me like crazy to get the models prepped off the sprue so we can have a game this weekend.
The irony is that what is holding me up is that my available hobby time has been taken up in assembling and painting a plastic LotR Ent for the my youngest boy ...
Note that both assembling Spulk for a game with one boy and painting an Ent for a game with the other are done in *my* hobby time. I don't get let off chores like gardening and dishwashing for this service to the family....
But I wouldn't have it any other way! It's fantastic having something to share with them in that way.
And as for gender stereotyping, my daughter (10) just tuts and raises her eyebrows at the "boys toys". Although she's first in the queue when she wants me to make something for her dolls houses!

First it's hooker dolls and than at 18 it's real life hookers. Guess we know who to blame when that starts to happen. Surprised Mattel (or whoever puts them out) hasn't been sued yet. Our country is sue happy. If someone wrongs you, sue them.

I think this is great! Getting your kids into Warhammer/ GW is a win win scenario. Not only do you get to buy twice as many miniatures, but you can also be assured that the hobby is so damn expensive when they do reach 18 they wont have the funds to go out drinking and causing trouble

As if on cue, you hear two people singing from the stairwell, and the door is opened and a pair of very smelly, very dirty guardsmen stumble in, completely drunk, and covered in vomit, and immediately collapse unconsious on the porch. You drag them to their beds, realising that they will not be waking up for some time. |

It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. And its real good to see them playing the only game worth introducing people to the hobby with - can I get a HELL YEAH!
