Edit 7-5-2010: The following is a really just the ramblings of a mad modeler and his attempts to track his chaotic pattern of handling this hobby. Dont mind the sudden left turns and feel free to mock me at every corner.

Don't worry, the pics are okay size-wise.

I like the paint job, colour scheme's nice and from what I can see from the *slightly* fuzzy picture, it seems really crisp.

Post more for more C&C

In short, it's good - Waaaay better than my stuff (except my Imperial Commander/Inquisitor, he's so good itll make your eyes bleed...).

Also, I like the Chaplain's name - all of my guard officers have Greek names, except my Commissar, Dave

Love the gritty realism you give to your marines. I am not a fan of cartoony marines.

Btw I'm Posting up the first model you painted for me to get me going. Thanks again for the constant help and showing me the joys of modeling and painting. I apologize for Maugun Ra today Well back to painting my boyz since I still have no idea what I am going to do for my eldar dar dar.

Click on the picture and scroll to zoom in. 1-I did a good job Oh yeah..ignore the base. That crap was all me. Now that I sorta know what the hell I am doing I will go back and fix it so the white isn't showing.

yes they are nids and not spacemarines but hey, target practics is often needed.

So, now that im out of battery life, heres some wip marines.
this first guy is my MOTF on a segway type bike w/conversion beamer

Like i said, wip. Actually im kinda lost on the front shield of the segway, i want the flat piece of metal look but im not likeing the way its painting up. Maybe add some battle damage to it or repair work but then why would the MOTF have sloppy repair work on his chariot of long distance pain?

the conversion beamer is just a shortened up necron gaus cannon, the red 'ball' is going to get some major glaze work to have the glow look going for it.

the red parts of the armor work well with the tan/yellow plates that i normally use and the dark edges on the shoulder pads have turned out well, these pics were taken before i did that work.

any comments on this one really would be useful, sorta lost my grove thing with painting him, lets call it painterblock.

so my plan was that by the end of this month i would have all models assembled to fill my 2k list, and looks like its gonna be done.
the idea with this army is able to vs all so plenty generic and hopefully well rounded for my odd/random style. probally do better if i kept my attention firmly on the game at hand but my mind is like a diesel train on a set of track designed by a spiralgraph and not really tracks but quantum leap physics....

cpt with all da fun stuff
- command squad
- razor back

MOTF on bike w/ beamer

dreadnaught, Plasma cannon ML
ironclad dread
techmarine w/harnass
sniper squad w/telion
sniper squad
tac squad w/ml
tak squad w/ml
assault/suicide squad
predator las+hvybolt (its been working well)
whirlwind
and somewhere is that techmarine upgrade guy for one vehicle, like to keep him floating around from game to game

now i know that this list could be alot better, less scouts, terminators, deathrow inmate out on good behavior and craving xeno flesh
but my other armys are pretty expansive and this is just suppose to be a simple, easy to transport, lets not think how to counter somebuddy's other list.. though i still end up doing that. Plus, I have no intention on spending more money on figs when i still got a freaking huge backstock of figs to paint, assemble, cuddle in my sleep and still need to work on some terrain pieces ive been thinking of.
now that ive said all that i really dont mind any of you ripping apart my list/improving it/poking me with a stick while i sleep. thought my wife might not approve the last one and if you wake any of my kids while doing that then you will wish that death will find you by the third day.

The metals on the first pics seem really flaky. Have you tried washing them and then

that was the first pic i took with my digital camera and first time with the photoshop to clean up my evoloving pic skill.

also i might be that most of the paint was older GW metallic paints that i was useing the last of. doesnt look that bad when its not hyper focuses/magnified on.

no i havent died or fallen off the horse, well the horse took a long water break and i certainly plan to finish painting 2 of the three currently close to completed marines on my desk while starting the Captain.

i have managed to mostly complete the assembling of my previously planned 2000pt army, then i rethought some of it. Right now i need magnets to be able to keep the razorback as convertable as it need to be.

also kids, family, work, and a truck that didnt want to work too well have kept me busy.

Painting is mostly okay. The metallics on the Chaplain are kinda blotchy. In general it seems to me that you have too many solid, empty spaces in terms of colour. Shade, highlight, add patterns, anything to break the monotony.

Go into more detail on this I am curious to what you have in mind. Aren't space marines suppose to be monotonous?

How ya doin 1-I sorry about last night just too much Left4Dead 2 by the time I thought a half hour passed it was midnight. Yeah my post went past the 30 day mark gonna have to start a new one once I get painting. Was a good vacation just worn out did alot.

Loving the grit look man keep it up.

As for the segway man the shoulder pads trim should be an off metal or washed to show it is metallic it seems to be just acrylic. I would suggest a bronze or a tin bits metal trim. From the red to white on the head to the red to yellow I would suggest smoothing the color transitions with a blend or simply putting a very thin black line showing separation. It seems to be cluttered at the point of color transition.

Other then that I am Jonesen for another warhammer night been too long. One of these days I need to start drilling out the barrels of my guns...I am sooo lazy.

A couple of pics that i missed in previous updates so here they are now.
Yes they are WIP, same models just the one arm is magneted so PF and CH are interchangeable as i see fit to change the squad from Vets to nilla on a army by army baisis.

Now the one that needs my finger to hold down, thats simple, made the hole to big. Of course im really thinking that a big red 'S' is going to end up somewhere on his armor. Even Space Marines gotta have heroes.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

A couple more done, maybe they are a couple? I mean they are the core part of my Command Squad so maybet their like 'good buddies' or 'great pals'
Up first, well obviosly its a pair of lightning claws, they go slashity slash slash.
Yeah that line was lame.

And now the Apothicary Brother, why the guy with the cup, because it looks cool.

Only one more model in my half to three quaters done pile then ill get to some unstarted work, ie that superman flying Assault marine that frenzie is so fond of. Also gonna paint up my New Necron Lord and that Orc with big guns and heavy armor.

So I felt the need to updated since Ive been ignoring this thread in favor of another.

i have been working on a techmarine but no pictures to show at this time.

other stuff I took care of include this necron lord, after losing the barrel nub for the green shaft and then finding a replacement i decided to completely ignore that part and leave it as is. The plan right now is to paint up the hole between the blades with an engery gathering light effect thing that should blow someones mind, or not.

At some point in the near future I plan to updated all my necrons with ceramic type shoulders. Some blue like the lord, some orange, some white and others who knows. Then Im finally going to open the paraihs that I bought some 6 years ago or longer and get them all painted, course I think I better finish off the SM first.

Other bits of work in the last month or so have been for good buddy Frenzeid Potato and his orcs. For whatever reason I started a little orckie clan that i call the 'over clan' Really I just need more mental stimulation at work to avoid thinking things like this are a good idea.
Anyway this guy I lovingly call "OverKill" and the stikk bomb up the bum does help give the name some justice

Of course their is other fun orc stuff in the works and I should get some of them along with SM assault squad painted over the next few weeks.

Fuse added, bit o 30 gauge wire with little fluff of pipecleaner fuzz for the burnin part. does nice for the effect but i worry about its durability, maybe need to redo it more securley.

Looking forward, one of the orcs in the works "overloodd' is shooting, lots. So I want to riddle if now overpile the empty bullet cases at this feet. I figure some type of tube will be sacrifed for this effect but right now im not sure what type to use or even look for. Any hints here would be useful.
And i mean seriosly overpilling the empt cases, like to his knees in empty cases. Might even have to add a grot to shovel the cases away but Ill have to think on that.

For expended munition try some leather end caps. My mother used to own a bead store and think they would be the cheapest route.
These are sterling silver but sure you can find them in silver plate or cheaper metal. All you gotta do is cut off the loop.

Next project is the assault squad with the super men of action. I might try reversing the colors on this unit to keep the ultimatly seperate from the rest of my army and maybe give them the lame name of "DarkWing" or "OnyxWarriors" or "Someone Painted Us Different" either way the Superman logo is going on one of them.

Still doing some painting, one would think that with a week long vactation at my disposal I would get a few models done but nope, not me. Orc "Overkill" is lets say more than half complete. Hopefully done by dinner tonight, that would require me getting off the computer first, hmmm..
I have done something geeky positive this week. Ive made terrain, yeah like a bunker. Pics of that will be available latter but clay is currently drying on parts of it and I fear moving it at this time.
So I guess Im saying that I should get motivated.
