I was reading Commander Farsight's page on Lexicanum and read about how he should be dead due to old age, suggesting (chaos/c'tan) corruption or someone else taking his name. Then I found an atricle began to think about something mostly unrelated to O'Shova.

How old is Aun'va, and how old can the Tau/Ethereals grow.

Tau are a short-lived species but Aun'Va is the so-called "Master of the Undying Spirit." There has been extensive speculation as to what that might mean but no official information. Farsight is not alone as being implied dead. Puretide, the mentor of both Farsight and Shadowsun, is also spoken of in this manner although there is no explicit statement about the matter. The "Shas'O Vera" you have found appears to be a fan creation. (Given that the article you link to has no sources. But I have not read the "Fire Warrior" novel or played the game of that name nor read the Imperial Armour book detailing the Taros campaign.)

I figured Vera was a fan commander, but some how that page got me to notice that Farsight is claimed to be dead of old age, but Aun'va was around twice as long and noone notices.

Somewhere in south-central England.

Four possible explanations for Farsight:

1. Dread Pirate Roberts.
2. The fluff is wrong, badly written and doesn't stand up to close examination.
3. Farsight is possessed by a Chaos Daemon.
4. The codex covers several hundred years and Farsight is included to let you play battles from the past.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

It's also mentioned in the rulebook that certain characters have a somehow attained a much longer lifespan...as though their lives are linked to the destiny of the tau race.

Tau Rulebook Fluff says average lifespan is forty years. But like so much else in 40k, you can just blame it on the Warp!

But Tau have very limited warp presence, almost making The Warp no longer a valid excuse.

Remember Farsight has the dawn blade( no tau codex I think thats the weapon) so it is probably keeping him alive and telling him to praise the Chaos gods since its for the Greater good that everyone worship Slaanesh
