Got to do some of the fiddlier details, the base, the commissar's clothing & the cloak.
Should I rustify the trophy rack as it has been modelled as damaged and must be very old??















Note: I used an automotive primer (from Halford's) for the prime coat & base coat in one. This gave a great ground for the red.
I've also used raw umber oil paint thinned loads as a secondary shading wash and I must say that it works really well. The oil paint is just standard artist's paint (for the curious - Rowney Georgian range) and I used white spiirt to thin it. You don't need much paint and I used the excess on quite a few figures that were hanging arround my workspace cause I hate waste!

i don't think you should rustify it. khorne's preferred metal is brass IIRC which doesn't rust like iron does. you could make it dirty but i wouldn't make it more red. nice job.

Lord Zhufor, IIRC, was the leader of Vraks who turned against the Imperium. Your model looks great, the deep red definitely makes the Khornate deep-red color. Definitely wanna see the base finished, and are you doing anything else with the World Eaters symbol on his leg armour?

Zhufor is a Khornate Warlord who is a member of the Black Legion. He has a few warbands under his wing, and generally is sent out by Abaddon to cause as much havoc as possible.

while he is abaddon's lackey, he's actually a world eater and not technically a black legionairre worshipping khorne. if you take a look at his armor, he's got their chapter markings modelled.

my comment above regarding him being a world eater brought up another suggestion. i'd paint the land masses on both of his world eater icons (right shoulder and shin) a color different from the seas on them. it's supposed to be a big set of jaws bitting down on a world with continents and oceans.

Actually, ironically, he started as neither. According to IA7, he was a post-Heresy renegade from the Storm Lords Chapter who was captured by the World Eaters, broken, and turned Traitor. He defeated and claimed the Skulltakers warband for his own and then offered himself and his warband to Abaddon.

So he's only a World Eater by dint of being turned to Chaos by them. He's basically the World Eater's version of Honsou from Storm of Iron(former Imperial Fist who turned traitor and joined the Iron Warriors).

Zhufor came to Vraks by order of Abadon and is a splinter of the World Eater's (as mentioned).
He slew Xaphon and toke over the command of the Chaos forces in the last few actions on Vraks before leaving the planet, dead & ruined.

I will be doing the land masses on the world part of both the shoulder & leg but the detail here isn't as great as the rest of the sculpt. Was thinking green but may do sandy brown like the FW which will link with the base finish (see below). The eyes may end up green though. Would like to do them a really deep glowing red but my hands & eyesight arn't what they used to be!

Just waiting until I feel a bit better (I've had flu or something over the last few days so haven't done much of anything).

The base will be finished with the front edge done in a sand tone to match my renegades and blood letters (check out my gallery - link in sig - for more of these)

I haven't decided whether to do the slate as a random rock or as part of a marble floor - probably the latter as i love a chalenge. Might try to find an imperial artifact (eg a chalice) as more decoration to go along with the severed guardsman head & sundered helmet.
