How are the rules compared to other similar rule sets? Haven't seen anyone talking about it. Are there any other rule sets that would be suitable to use the Crooked Dice minis in?

The rules are good fun. The new edition is quite a change to the last edition, so existing players are having to rethink how they play a bit, but for new players there shouldn't be any of this to worry about. They certainly give the feel of a 70s tv show, especially when you start using the event cards and gadgets.

The good thing is that everything in the new starter box is available for free in pdf format, it is just being made available in a box to avoid you having to print out all the cards and tokens. You can download the beta version on the Crooked Dice website now, or wait a few weeks for them to upload the final version.

As for the figures, they are all very generic characters and supporting character types, so you can use them in any skirmish system or board game that uses archetypes from the last 50 years. For example you could use them for a modern version of Strange Aeons or Pulp Alley; survivors in Zombicide, Mars Attacks or All Things Zombie, or even a 70s version of Across the Dead Earth... loads of things

Well, probably will get in on this. I'm not a huge fan of the cast boxes though.

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

The cast boxes are, mostly, one or two new figures and a selection of older figures to bulk things out a bit. This means some of the models aren't the best, but keep in mind that with 7TV you can use whatever you want as there are rules for creating your own characters and casts.

I've gone out of 28mm miniatures...but that Servalan, Avon and Vila just dragged me back in.

Must haves!

I bought all the Citadel 15mm sets for Traveller back in the early 80s, and they are still impressive figures, but although 15mm makes more sense for modern/SF given the range of firearms, I've switched to 28mm partly because of the huge variety of models available.

It's what 28mm is all about, the ability to make really characterful, individual figures. It's amazing what can be done in 15mm these days, but 28mm has a clear edge for obvious reasons.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Danke, I was trying to place them. I got Avon though, must be 25 years since I last saw Blake's 7 (I got hooked wondering how come there's 5 of them and none are named Blake?)

No spoilers, but poor old Blake never did fare that well...

Now, if only they did these in 54mm...

That was the problem with watching it on a UHF channel out of order.

They got to the dramatic ending and this old dude walked out and was all like "It's me, I'm Blake" and I was like who?

Then they reset to the start and it all came together.

now why is this not on DVD in the US?

I'm an old grump, my eyesight is not what it once was.

So how about upping the ante to 70mm. I have disposable income, and I would love the heck out of that Servalan, Avon, and Villa, plus a decent new pose for Blake, Cally, and Gan.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Mind you, any different scales would obviously depend on their licence.

But if it did include the ability to make 70mm display models, I'd be there like a shot!

"Ask ten different scientists about the environment, population control, genetics, and you'll get ten different answers, but there's one thing every scientist on the planet agrees on. Whether it happens in a hundred years or a thousand years or a million years, eventually our Sun will grow cold and go out. When that happens, it won't just take us. It'll take Marilyn Monroe, and Lao-Tzu, and Einstein, and Morobuto, and Buddy Holly, and Aristophanes…then all of this…all of this…was for nothing. Unless we go to the stars."
