Well, just as said 'after the Tau, I'm going to get back on track with my Space Wolves' GW go and pull out the new 'Nid codex with Trigons and plastic Raveners! Weeellll, there was nothing for it. I love the idea of Raveners but hated the old metal minis, so now I could have a plastic crak army of mostly snake 'nids. I've gone with regular Hormagaunts and stealers but have 9 Raveners to paint up, plus the 2 Trygons and the Swarm Lord conversion.

I used some Auto Air colour shift paints on the carapaces (that I've gotten around to!), which shifts from green through black to purple. Looks great in person, and am adding in some pearlescent orange on the skin join with the plates to separate the purple from the reddy brown.

Thoughts and ideas are very welcome at this early stage of build

Loving the purple and black very insectoid... Kinda reminds me of gross beetles running about in the sun.

A quick update. The Trygons are painted and based now, along with all 9 Raveners. Here are some update pics of the Swarmlord that I have started to paint while the bone swords are getting finished. The pictures in the gallery are better adjusted, I need to get a better graphics program to sort out the grainey quality.

WOW - love the crazy metallic reflections - very much like the carapaces of some real life bugs.

I also dig the Swarmlord conversion - It was only a matter of time before someone kitbashed Tyrant and Trygon bits. Looks fantastic - can't wait to see this fleshed out.

The purple looks good. I've got my hands on some Golden Fluid Acrylics interference oxide purple, which I'm hoping to achieve a similar effect with.

The Broodlords also work well--again that's an idea I have had!

I like your color scheme a lot - I think the purple and black is going to look great on a carpet of gaunts.
