I hope the mules scale ok to 40k, my guess is they will be a little small but pulled the trigger anyway.

Am currently torn between nothing and a trio of dwarf tanks and a trio of the half-tracks.. I suspect I'll be able to talk myself out of it with shipping but I've been weak before.

That whole logical trap of investing more money into something you already have simply because you already have it is working its voodoo on me. Problem is I ordered 50 of the new steel warriors and already had 10-20 of what we now call militia, 3 of the old artillery pieces, 4 iron ancestors, and various deadzone/dbx dwarfs.

About $125 to nicely round off my dwarfs, but I'm hoping shipping can talk me down. Then someday pick up a similar yet likely smaller order from a black Friday sale somewhere.

Are you being sarcastic, or do you actually mean that? I actually can't tell. I like the concepts and would happily accept more robots. Even more so if they used a better material than the restic the previous robot teams were made from.

Is it just me, or is that Mule throwing a hard 1990s vibe? Like it's from Warzone or Vor?

I dunno, never got into those games as a kid. The new Mantic Warpath vehicles just strike me as being very tall. It's hard for me to imagine the gun on top of the mule being capable of hitting anything shorter than a 2 story building. I get a similar vibe from the FF tank. Kind reminds me more of GI Joe cartoons than anything else.

The Asterians are doing it for me. The mule looks like the kind of vehicle Space ISIS would deploy...but not in a bad way.

I give Mantic their due, these are some nice looking models.

Yep 901 and the Bursters are metal no word on them changing (yet), both would be fine in metal - once cast cleanly something Mantic's in house casting is a bit hit and miss at. It's the murder birds that really need to change to plastic but I don't think the volume of sales will be there to justify it.

The pictured painted Mule is a 3D print you can see the print line texture on it the final model will be HIPS though.

the height of the turret looks pretty similar to the modern MRAP and that's a dedicated military transport rather than an adapted general utility vehicle so I think it works well

It's also blessed with a semblance of internal space rather more than the enclosed dune buggy on stilts would seem to have, so at least the height disadvantage is a functional tradeoff there

I have two thoughts about the Mule. Is it large enough to proxy a Taurox? How hard is it going to be to enclose the rear of it to make it look like a transport?

Doesn't look like it will be at all hard, and no idea how big a Taurox is, but it should be easy to tell from the scale photo if you have some IG banging about at home

For 40k it should be no problem to proxy a Taurox (no rules define the size) and how difficult it is to close the rare depends on how good you are with plasticcard

I find it interesting that the plague buster is illustrated in the deadzone book but has no entry. Maybe the Nexus Psi book will have some extra units in for the plague or maybe even all the factions.

What, it doesn't? FFS. I ordered a kit of them just for Deadzone.

Well they are 2nd Gens so they can be used as that for now. They might turn up in one of the rewritten campaign books.
