Dwarfs. The imagery is just fantastic - but as an avid player of WFRP I'd like to point out there's so much background about the Empire and other human nations that doesn't make it into the WFB books.

Dark Elves.. just because.



Hehe, no seriously, love the whole fall to darkness, we are better than you, ebil Elf look. I like Drow in Forgotten Realms for similar reasons.

I have always had a Dark Elf army in Fantasy, even if I have sold stuff, or left Warhammer Fantasy. Both times I came back into Fantasy the first army I have purchased has been Druchii.

I actually really like the (recent) background for the Bretonnians. As a huge fan of knights in general, that appeals to me, but mostly it's the idea of a wholly anachronistic faction surviving entirely due to their courage and faith. There's something about Brets that gives them a nobility (no pun intended) that I feel a lot of other armies lack.

I love the High Elves fluff, the amount of detail in the current High Elf Army Book on all the different Phoenix Kings is fantastic. Complete overview of the High Elves history.

So much of the background ties in together, like the Vampire Counts and Tomb Kings. Both were spawned by the same guy... dead guy, rather.

Other : Chaos Dwarfs

Skaven. Of the WHFB factions they are the closest one to an original idea. They're a credible threat to any of the other factions, they combine fear of rats, fear of plague with steampunk and gothic horror and a dose of dark humor.

Wow, I wouldn't have thought empire and skaven would be leading the polls. Skaven are cool... I find empire really boring, however :-/

Whist I find many factions interesting, it seems the Skaven have had such fun and thrilling schemes over the years, the War against Nagash, The Doomsday device at Nuln, the multitude of shenanigans at Hell Pit, etc.

Either high elves or dark elves, probably dark elves. They both have a very long history and the the war and how the dark elves moved away and all the betrayal etc.

Couldn't agree more. Skaven are original, therefore winners in the fluffbattle.

warriors of chaos, i just bought liber chaotica, man is it awesome. it got me to start a fantasy army when before i didnt want to.

The Empire. It's so crammed full of history and visually, despite borrowing from a period in history and aesthetic, it is a highly original theme, unlike the bog standard knghts and medieval theme that we see with Brettonians.

I'm personally Privy to Tomb Kings and Orcs & Goblins. I love Tomb Kings.

Other: Chaos Dwarves. Even though much of it you can't find in recent WFB lore, the stuff you can find is just fantastic.

The Empire obviously have the most written about them but I find the High Elf storyline the most compelling and even tragic. The Sundering series is extremely well done and really gives you an insight on just how f'd up things were during that time. Not to mention the whole war against chaos and the Time of Aenarion just flat out rocks.

I have to vote for the insanely awesome chaos dwarfs of Zharr-Naggrund.
