I agreed with most of the article, it's almost exactly how I run my own Crisis Suits. The only thing I would say is that I've found Iridium Armor to be dead useful on a Commander model. As much as it costs, it does make him really hard to kill in most games. I typically run my Shas'o with the 2+ save, 4+ invul, and FNP along with 2 ablative wound Shield Drones. I love the fact that the drones share his saves, so that's a T4 2+/4+ save model for 15 points.

(And yes, it is still being updated. I lack an editor at the moment - PM me if you're interested in helping out a struggling writer!) |

I've been doing the same set up, with a fireknife loadout. The amazing ammount of fire power this guy can take is sick. Taken rounds from a Punisher, dakkafex, dakkatyrant ect, and kept walking. err. jetpacking.

I agreed with most of it, too! Some people analyze crisis suits and recommend against plasma rifle strictly by counting points, etc... but when you need to kill marines (termies!) in a hurry, it fills a VERY valuable hole in the Tau arsenal!
Nice analysis of the individual weapons... now let's see some combinations

I'm working on it. I'm doing this from work (shhh!), and this first part took me about three hours total.

Thanks for putting the time into this. Most of this I've found from trial and error and some of the Advanced Tau Tactica articles. I've finally started going back through and magnetizing my suits.
IMO suit configuration is most important part about playing Tau.

That's a nice article. Besides being entertaining it is professional and well-written. A good read. There are some old articles in the system written by someone named "Stelek" maybe you should take a look at them they seem outdated to me.

A little more explanation on the Burst Cannon hate would not be amiss. It's an attractive option for newbies such as myself, and while the old-schoolers might get a chuckle out of the jokes made at its expense, there's not much there to actually explain your position.

Depends on the situation. I sometimes like to use Plasma and Burst Cannons, odd I know, but it's worked for me.
I like to run one team with with the Helios loadout and then have another suit team loaded out with Bladestorm.

I would like to mention that my most common opponent is an Imperial Guard player who absolutely loves stormtrooper and veteran squads. He likes having IG troops with a 4+ armor save. I have found a commander battlesuit armed with a Airbursting Fragmentation Projector and Cyclic Ion Blaster to be VERY effective. Fire the AFP first and then the Ion Blaster cleans up anything left over.

The lack of Heatwave, Firestorm and Rain of Blades is insulting. You might want to mathhammer out Deepstrike to see that the chance to hit your target or came within 7 inces, they are very high with Pathfinder fish guidians. This might help someone farliy new to Tau, but i dint realy learn anything.

I disagree on the target lock. it can be very usefull.
run a squad of 3 crisis suits one anti transport the rest anti infantry.
I pop the transport with one and kill the squad inside it with the rest of the squad. this way i reduce the chance of an assault, and now i wont have to use 2 units to kill 2 units. now its 1 for 2 who doesn't like those odds? (your opponent)
