A random idea for a weapon. I will say that this is not my idea, someone told me it the other day and I'm curious what people think.
1 shot per front rank model (so minimum 5 wide), at the strength of the total ranks +3. No max.
18 inch range
Move or fire.
Now the obvious thing is the no maximum strength... But then again, you would need a really deep unit for it to be really broken, and you may have to sacrifice number of shots.
Under the current warhammer rules it would be a real killer to cavalry and chariots. A real downside.
On the other hand if they were say 15 pts a model that's going to really start to add up. A major points sink.
Thoughts?

So, kind of an update on the Chaos Dwarf Blunderbuss? Seems reasonable- and less finicky then the rectangle of death version...

It may just be too expensive at 15 a pop. If you go ten wide, 2 deep, you're looking at 300 points, just to get 10 shots at strength 4, 18" range.
If you were going for high strength, maybe 3 wide, 5 deep, you'd have 3 strength 7 shots for 225 points...

So in principle the rules idea is not broken? That is good.
The points thing I was just basing it on dwarf thunderers plus a little more.
How much would you price it at for a dwarf unit?

Not sure. Assuming thunderer stats, light armor, no shield?
Maybe 11 or 12? You've got shorter range than most shooting, and it takes a second rank just to boost up to crossbow strength. As long as there was the caveat about needing to be at least 5 wide in the front rank, then you could go cheaper (to prevent one long line for strength 10 shots or something silly looking).
