So this campaign I've been playing in has ramped up for a 2nd half, and while before the max points was 1,250, now it's 1,999. (Basically 2000, but preventing the use of Lords and extra special/rare slots for now).

That being the case, I have ramped up my list, now having enough models to do so (Dark Riders, Hydra, Black Guard, Shades, etc all in my collection now).

However, at this point value I think I really need to get a BSB into the mix. My question is what models in the DE range do you guys use to convert BSBs out of? Right now I have a spare on-foot Dreadlord. I was thinking of using him. I have a spare Warriors standard which I was considering mounting onto him somehow. I also have a spare Dark Rider Command standard, but honestly that just looks like a halberd with a streamer on it: not all that impressive. What did you other DE players use to make your BSBs?

Once created, where is a good place to stick a BSB? My current plan is to give him the Banner of Nagarythe and stick him in my block of Spearmen.

My second question is about mounts for Masters/Lords. Right now the only mounted lord I have is a cold one-riding Dreadlord model. I also have an on-foot Dreadlord. My question is what mounts are worth spending the money to get my hands on, making my way into the 2000+ range?

(What I'm hoping to do is model one mounted Dreadlord character and stick a magnet to his bottom so I can actually switch out what mount he's riding. Have to experiment with that.)

I personally use the corsair banner holder for my BSB, since it isn't likely that I would use corsairs, and i certainly wouldn't give them command very often even then.

I have a manticore, and I have been eying getting the dragon model. The manticore has been surprisingly useful as a master mount, and the dreadlord on dragon is a staple of lord level play. (though I don't use them)

I use the BSB how you have it, I also sometimes use a generic BSB on my cauldron, or use the hydra banner with cold ones or black guard, (even did it with witches, so with the cauldron had 4 attacks each with KB...)

I used the same Dreadlord model since you can just jab any old standard hand in the wrist socket with minimal conversion. I used a CoK banner.

I usually run the BSB with Black Guard, Hydra is pretty nasty especially if you have another fighty hero in there.

I really like the Black Dragon for the lord w/ Ring of Darkness to slow down shooting. It's done major damage every game I've used it in so far. I stop putting him on a CO since I got tired of my Lord occasionally failing Stupid checks when I really needed it.
