Just checking GW's daily blog and came across this...
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/blogPost.jsp?aId=8200022a
If you look at the image of the winner in the design studio, on the left, you can see a Orcs and Goblins cover.
Is it me or does that look new? ?

That's the previous one. But good spot. I can only think of so many reasons a bloke in the Design Studio would have an old Army Book on his desk.....and one of them would be because he is working on a new one, and has it as a reference.

No, it's from the book preceding the current one. Stakes in the bottom left corner give it away.

Looks like an older book to me.
I have one sitting infront of me and it has the same wooden spike things in the bottom left corner.
I think the same picture is in the current book, but I don't have it.
-lol everyone got there before me.

They updated the books to have the cover style.

Yes they do. The Red Border was introduced for Bretonnians, and each subsequent reprint of each book had it.
Got all the previous books, and now only my Tomb Kings one has the borderless design. Which is mildly annoying.

Huh. Bought my O&G 6th right before 7th was released and it lacks it.

Ah didn't realise it was a reprint thing, assumed they'd just updated all the covers to match the new style.
So Tomb Kings still sell without the border? I was sure they had also changed last time I noted one in a GW.

Depends on how old the copy was. If your store hadn't flogged many at all since the change, then it is entirely possible they'd never have received a bordered copy.
Morathi...is only because I've not replaced it. It now does have a Border on the shelves.

Ah gotcha.
edit - oh and aye don't blame you, I never brought a new copy of the Dark Elves book after the change, just used the FAQ info alongside the old book, seemed silly to pay all that extra for a few changes. (Well bugger load of changes really.. but at the time didn't think it was worth it.)

Yes, they only did the red border cover when they reprinted the books (i.e. had sold out of the old copies). Can only assume Plantuan4th found a copy from an earlier print run.
EDIT - Right, this is getting silly.

Whoops, ah no sorry.. of course I'd be a mad idgit not to using the new book. I was referring to the Druchii.net update FAQ a few years back, where they also re-released an updated copy of the rulebook with those changes in.

Soooo we know it is an old codex 100% right? Why is there an old codex lying around in the super secret design studio at someone's desk? Are Orks due for an update and are they one of GW's favored children?
