I just wanted to make a post on these flying stands as they are very nice, and I personally dont like the plastic ones that come with the Valk.

This weeks commission featured two Fightas from forge world, and all they give you for a stand is the plastic Valk stand. Why is beyond me. There is no bit to attach it, and even if you bit ordered it, the bit is too big for the bottom of the Fighta, which is not only smaller but the bottom is slightly rounded so the surface area to work with isnt big at all.Dragon Forge flying bases werent designed to be used with a fighta but with a little work they fit and are ten times better.

Here is the disassembled flying stand as you get it from Jeff:

Here it is all put together:

You need to buy the base seperately, but I like this as he has a wide range of Valk sized bases. He will also drill the hole for the stand for you no charge. PLEASE have him do it, as he uses a drill press which allows for a super snug fit. Dont attempt to use a hand drill.

Here is some pics of the Fightas:

Fying. As you can see I had to chop up the bit as it is too big for a fighta. This is not a problem with the product, it wasnt designed for this model. It also looks plenty Orky. Hammered nais doubled as pins and orky rivets, and are holding very well.

The base and stand up close. As you can see the rod fits very well.

Another bonus is you can adjust the height with just a saw. Not really possible with the cheap plastic stands.

So go over and get some, your Valks will be glad you did. Take care Dakka.

Nice urban themed base. Seams allot sturdier than the valk base.

Very nice. Would that be stable enough for my bomma? The wing span on the bomma is bigger and to be honest it looks a bit tippy even with the fighta...

Can Jeff make a bigger one just for me?

What material is that clear stand?
Light plastic? Plexiglas? Blown diamond glass?

Its 1/2 inch extruded acrylic rod. Very strong stuff.

Does the job. I'm not a fan of the big round external socket on the bottom of the plane, but it would at least be solid.

Base and painting look good, though.

I haven't seen Jeff's flying bases in person...

BUT...

I've just had some dealings with him through eBay. He posted me a pack of assorted Armorcast bits and pieces, and, because postage to Oz was fairly expensive, threw in some extra Armorcast bits and some of his product as samplers.

Really nice guy, good to deal with, and the bases he sent me were top notch! I'll be ordering one of these flying stands when I finish a Forgeworld Lightning that is currently in progress...

Do you think this is able to hold my tiger shark if I get a good solid base?
