Can a character on a monstrous mount take away rank bonuses if he charges in the flank or rear?

Unit strength 5 (in a single unit) is needed to remove rank bonuses. If the character + mount is US 5 or greater, then yes - they can take away rank bonuses.

... then turn to page 71 .... A monsters Unit strength is its starting wounds. Ridden monster are the same but get +1 for the character. Does you monster have 4 wounds? If so your at least US5

Any editor worth his salt would easily pick up and query a major typo such as Scout vs Scouts.
It is obvious that Scout cannot be a simple typo, so it must be a new, as yet undeclared rule. Perhaps it is intended to be published as one of the optional House Rules, or FAQs as GW call them. Dark irony, a must for all British people. |

Why not upgrade to Griffon (empire) or Hippogryph ( Bretonnians) with 4 wounds? (also just checking but aren't they just cavalry? I've nether codex at the moment)

I'm pretty sure that any 3 wound + mount is classified as a monstrous mount.
The regular pegasus knights are just flying cavalry.

Yep found it now. Mounts of 2 wounds or more are monstrous mount.

You really, really dont want juggers to be a monstrous mount, makes them much more vulnerable.

That would be very nice to have Juggers as MM - then you couldn't put them in Bloodletter units. I swear short of Killing Blow, those are one of the most survivable units in the game . .. . .

Why couldn't you put them in Bloodletter units?

Last I checked, you couldn't put monsters in units . . . . unless I'm wrong because it's too early in the morning and my brain isn't working.
Actually I think it has something to do with the wounds it has - remember I can't join a Bloodthirster to a unit, nor a Carnosaur Lord.

Monsters without riders cannot join units. Otherwise they can.

Non-flying Monsters ridden by characters can join units. If the character dies, they're no longer eligible to join. Automatically Appended Next Post: In reference to the OP, yes a monster on character (if it totals US5 or more) can break ranks.
Note that NOT all US5+ units break ranks. Skirmishers (including Units of Flyers, like Peg knights) don't.
