Hey.
Been sculpting on this for ages now since I wanted something to add to my own miniatures.
It is inspired by old pre heresy themes and I spent a great deal of time getting symmetry and making for easy conversions with other bitz like shoulder pads.

The "fins" at the back was something I liked to add to give a more old look. I call them air brakes and they come separate and can be glued on closed or opened position for added variety.
Bear in mind that they are loosely attached by small blobs of greenstuff in the pics (so the seams between the air brakes and the main turbine hull can look od with green blobbing out a bit) , as is the pack to a plastic mini for size comparison sake so things could always slip a little during my struggles with the camera.

It will be cast in resin for weight and stabilities sake, no need to have light plastic minis with heavy unbalancing backpacks.

Its odd and looks "old" but heck, I hope you like it.

Yeah, I guess orks could do well with them, I´ll try out a squad of slugga boys with those for some custom stormboys.

yep, second that, he early jet packs in what, late 80's, looked muvh the same!

It might help to show them next to the normal packs we're used to so people get a better sense of the size.

The spine is amazing, and they would make great ork parts! My mek would give some big teef for some parts like that!

I always thought that the pre-heresy jump packs were what Chaos Raptors wore.

These are cool nonetheless. Get these out by the time Blood Angels are released and you'll make a mint, I think.

they look big but that might be because the base model doesnt have arms and shoulder pads.

IIRC though, that particular piece of artwork in the Heresy Visions has everything oversized (IE oversized legs, arms, etc). I think the artist just went 'big' on that picture.

Nope, did that on purpose so that if used on a SM mini all the arms and shoulderpads will fit in nicely with no hassle.
Then again they will be made in resin and its a very simple thing to take a knife and cut down the back piece so they get closer to the torso...but that will mean trouble fitting in bulky pads etc.

Nope, looked through all 5 art books and found numerous old jump pack pictures by various artists, they are all even bigger then the one I did.

But we MIGHT shrink it down a few percent if enough people complain.
If you ask me I like the bigger size, makes it look cool in some sort of way but that is my taste.

SOLD I'll take 20.. when do they go to the molds?

It's my experience that when you make a mold and cast something, it always comes out a little bit, but not much, smaller than the original. So once these are cast up they may not be as big.....
