Green day, once they released american idiot I put it all at the bottom of the pile, why does emo have to start seeping into everything!
also like you MGS faith no more, I liked the stuff that had the slash-lookalike and long haired singer, but once they had the new weird guy singer in it they kind of went along a different path!

@MGS - Good, good call on the Kate Bush - She is a genius as far as I'm concerned.
Ive ALWAYS said that about them, no one every believed me back then
Slipknot is a big one for me. I was a HUGE Slipknot fan when they first came out, went ot their concerts and everything. But then I just stopped listening to them, and now pretty much anytime I hear them on the radio I want to vomit.

I only ever liked the song Heart Shaped Box by Nirvana.
I always thought Kurt Cobain was a colossal gakker. His near deification after the silly selfish rich and successful gak killed himself filled me with a hatred.

I'm going to commit heresy by saying
Techno and Trance. yeah I had very little musical taste back in the day. Whilst there are still some DJ sets I listen to because of the memories of a particular weekends back in the '90's I just think its all so much noise now.
I appreciate a much wider choice of music now.
Oh on the subject of Kurt Cobain I agree with MGS. How many preteen gakkers walk around with Nirvana T shirts on pretending their all it and with it like its something new professing that 'you don't understand' The best thing Cobain was his big toe! (Blam).

I never listen to more than two or three Smashing Pumpkins songs anymore.
Never listen to Nirvana anymore.
Never listen to my old Gatecrasher compilations anymore.
Never listen to the Wombling Christmas Album anymore (though, sadly, that is because I lost it, not because it is not awesome)
Never listen to Garbage anymore.
Never listen to Offspring anymore.
Never listen to more then two or three Foo Fighters songs anymore.
I do still listen to FNM. Angel Dust is, has always been and probably always will be one of my all time favourite albums. Everything's Ruined and Midlife Crisis are two songs that still grab me. We Care a Lot is also big still, though I rarely listen to it.
Another old album that still has it for me is Soundgarden - SuperUnknown. Black Hole Sun remains another favourite song. Fell on Black Days and a few others on that album are still great.
Therapy? were a huge favourite of mine when younger. Can't listen to it anymore.

I'd agree with Nirvana, I liked a few songs of theirs when I was younger, although I wasn't a hardcore fan or anything.
Chatting to my brother just on friday when I was playing 'Everlong' by the Foo's here in the office. It occured to us that perhaps the greatest gift to music Kurt gave to us, was killing himself. As it was an act that led to Dave Grohl forming Foo Fighters.
Sorry if that comes over a little harsh, but I have little sympathy for those who take their own lives. Plus Foo's are my fave band pretty much, pretty sure they wouldn't have existed if Kurt hadn't gone out back with his gun.

I play : = Vhaekonian 75th - Thalzakian Light Division 'those lucky Dogs' Fox Company = Warlord Grodgob's Lootas - Deathskull Warband, with allies Snozdak's Dakka Moonz - Bad Moon Warband.
'Hellions - Strike Team Beta' Corregidor Mercenaries 'Nomads'
Dakkanaut - leaving a mangled Dakkite in its wake since 2010.
I remember the day i went to school and seen girls crying about kobains death... i could not stand that crap music and Grunge...ughhhh what a horrid moment in Metal history. His lyrics were somewhere between vomit and baby poop.

Not so much now, though.
I had absolutely ZERO time for Pearl Jam or Stone Temple Pilots - but that's really only because they're crap. No other reason.
I dislike Eddie Veders voice and singing style ALOT,it simply anoys me,I saw him preforming at a Ramones tribute concert and I belive for a moment I could have happily comited murder ( a bit OTT I know).
I also like early Alice in Chains, but again not so much now.
Never was a big "fan" of STP,some of their tunes are ok,but most are sort of blah.
Really when it comes to "grunge" I prefer Sonic Youth.

+1 to that. Preach it, brother.
@MGS: Wouldn't be Toni Halliday, would it (Curve?)? If so, count me a disciple as well. Amazing voice - and still quite cute.

For me it has to be Dokken. They were my favorite band, but then I brought home Metallica's "Master of Puppets", and that was the end of that.

Has to be Radiohead. Loved them until I grew up and realised that life is too short for manic-depression if you're not manic-depressive. Still respect their talent, though. I think the reason so many of us have stopped listening to bands we used to like is because, as you get older, you begin to value your own honest response to something above the conditioned responses that the media has drilled into each of us. BTW you guys are spot-on about Nirvana - can't believe I used to like that s#*8.

Yarp. I remember hearing 'Horror Head' on the John Peel show and being mesmerised... Then I saw how intensely hot see was, she forms a sizable part of my formative years preoccupations.
I have pondered for years if NIN or Curve are my favourite band, after all this time, I finally think it's Curve.

'Already yours' did it for me.
An English pen-pal put me onto them (since it was pre-WWW days) and I haven't looked back. Doubt I'll ever get to see her (them) live more than the once I did manage back in the day (over 15 years ago. Actual year is fuzzy).
My reaction to Cobain topping himself was "ohwellhowsad. Nevermind." (I never liked them. Or the movement.)
On that note - here's my 'grunge' joke.
Q: What goes "beep, beep, beep, beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee..."?
A: Kurt Cobain. Unplugged.

I really don't find Radiohead depressing at all - I still find their music interesting, even if I don't listen to them as much as I used to. I can still whip out 'OK Computer' from time to time and really enjoy it. They are AWESOME live, too.

I never saw them live. I've never seen NIN live either.
Now I'll not have the chance to see either of them, it pains me.
I did obtain Open Day At The Hatefest and The Further Adventures of Curve recently, both were very limited releases. If you can find them, I recommend them (some twit was selling them on amazon for £250 and £180 respectively...).

I still like Radiohead, but only ever listen to their first three albums seeing as Thom Yorke went on a magical journey up his own backside thereafter. I've not seen them play live since about 1998 but they were fething awesome back then.
I used to love R.E.M back in the day but i think i completely over-listened their music as it is now something that i will never willingly put on the stereo.
I think the WWW has made music so damn easy to access these days (I remember having to stay up late with my finger poised over the 'record' button on my cassette/radio waiting for a song i liked to come on if i wanted to have a copy!), and that there is so much of it that it's always worth wading through a few Arctic Monkeys/Klaxons etc to get to some good stuff like Beirut.
