Exactly,
GS is your friend when attempting to do Death Guard conversions, and
IIRC their are several tutorials concerning making sores, pustules & other "Nurgley" goodness.
For my own Death Guard Terminator Lord(well I've actually built 3..2 Lords & a Nurgle Sorcerer),I started with the basic
CSM termie lord kit, drilled holes using a pin vise into various areas of the armour, then "damaged" the holes a bit more with an x-zacto knife, following this step I glued cut up pieces of guitar string (about an inch or so long, and bent slightly) in various areas (particulary around the mid section & legs),following this I used small amounts of
GS to build distended stomachs (placing it over the tips of the guitar string around the mid section & leaving the rest of the string visable),from there I simply added random boils & pustules here and there, the trick is to not go over board with
GS.
For the heads I used a variation, one Lord sports an old Chaos mutant head with slight
GS alterations (as does the sorcerer),one lord I used the
CSM sorcerer head from the kit,but cut of the "horns" on the sides of the helmut and filled of the "eye" in the center of the head (replacing it with a small horn from a Chaos spawn frame).
As for the Manreapers,I used the Sorcerer staff arm, sniped off the top,did a bit of
GS work along the staff and added some blades I sculpted from the "big horns" from an Ork battlewaggon for one & the top of a syth taken from a zombie (
WHFB) kit (if your really interested in doing alot of conversions for your Death Guard I highly recomend purchasing the
WHFB zombie kit).
Alternatly, blades from ork choppas can also be fasioned into blades for Manreapers, and you should be able to aquire a few of these cheaply.
Anyway ,hope some of my rambling helps, good look with your prodjects.
