i have recently started a guard army, focusing mostly on my 'treads and any thing that runs on promethium. i have them raised on a planet with lots of plains and mountains.
whats a good name for the planet/regiment?
ps any ideas for fluff and lore would be apreciated. ive got a blue armour and dark brown fabric theme.
thx

Blue armour fits cold, snowy mountains in my opinion...which points to some animals living in Tundra and Taiga that make good name-parts for regiments.

The 46th [Planet] Armour Division - The Whiteclaw Bears (a local animal from your planet)

With alternatives for Number, planet name and animals of your choice (Daggertooth Wolves, Fire Eagles, Rabid Chipmunks and so on) there should somewhere be a name for your Guard.

I'm looking for a nickname for my regiment myself - until now, they are just the 3rd Catachan Rangers, a reconaissance force. Names are hard, I know that from experience.

Lots of plains AND mountains together? That's gonna be a wacky as hell topography to see from orbit. Like a rollercoaster, I daresay.

Thx guys. Lol I guess the topography is weird but hey, it's science fiction. Ps Witzkatz, since they're a jungle fighting regiment, why not the (number) catchan vine stalkers, or the carnivores/predators?

@Commisar Wallacej5: Vine stalker is an interesting idea...Carnivore/Predator would be a bit too flat for my liking...you wouldn't name a regiment "52nd Cadians - The Dogs", I think. There needs to be some kind of cool adjective.

@Kanluwen: Actually, "Bergvolk" is the correct term, although 38,000 years in the future on another planet that probably does not matter.

If you're into German nicknames for the regiment, I could offer something like...

"Felskrieger" - rock warriors
"Grauwölfe" - grey wolves
"Bergadler" - mountain eagles

just to name a few. It's interesting, for Germans like me the English terms usually sound WAY cooler than the German terms, but I guess it might be different for Americans and Brits.

Mine was actually chosen for a historic name. Hessian, became Kroissen. Try looking for a name of historical units that suits how your guys are suppose to be, then rework the name a little and hey presto there's a homeworld.

As to a nickname well animals work. I think an adjective would work well

fighting 15th

Kickin' 12th

lucky 44th

That Kind of thing.

True that. I tried to leave wiggle room, with a broad sweeping idea

im thinking of having my basilisks called "Gebirgsartillerie" or mountain artilery., and have my armour known as the Berg trägt, or mountain bears. im liking the whole names in other laungaes thing.
still thinkin of a planet name.
what'd be a good nickname for a cave fighting regiment, like spelunkers or somting. any ideas?

Choose any name you want, just make sure that it's one that you like.

My IG regiment is the 32nd Babelian Whore Sons. The fluff idea is that they're a regiment recruited exclusively from the Ministorium run bordellos on the shrine world of Babel. Babel of course being the shrine world devoted to Saint Gizra, The Whore, who helped put down a sector wide chaos insurgency by helping to spread several venereal diseases though the enemies officer corp.

If you want to go with a German motif, I'd recommend the 63rd Rhine Jagermonsters

Hey, I just noticed something Wallacej5...you wanted your armour named "Berg trägt", right? For "mountain bears"? Like...bears being the big cuddly animals?

If those were meant, the correct term would be "Bergbären". Your translation, "Berg trägt", basically means "the mountain does carry", which makes not a whole lot of sense.

"tragen" being a translation of the verb "to bear", that might have been the root of this confusion.

(Not trying to be a Grammar Nazi Just wanting to have your regimental troops a proper name! )

Lol man thx. I appreciate it. That's what you get for using google translate I guess. I like that translation better, has a better ring to it. Thanks a lot.
Btw, did you ever settle on a name for your catchan troops? I could think of some more stuff if you want dude.
