I am wondered why didn't the Blood Angles perform a plastic surgery on the Tycho's face instead giving him that golden mask?

Hail to the creeeeeeeeeeeeeeed!baby Ask not the moot a question, for he will give you three answers, all of which will result in a public humiliation.

Because the golden mask makes him X-TREMEEEEE.

Besides, he probably looked like hamburger after the ork was done with him- and remember the imperium doesn't understand technology (like plastic surgery) they just pray to dead people and stuff happens. So maybe it just didn't work?

My army is better than a bear- It's like a bear times two.

I suppose the fluff writer? Seriously, stop with the one-line posts just to get a high number on your account. It's annoying to see no speculation or true appreciation with every post you give.

As for Tycho's mask, I'd say it's probably an honor thing. Rather than heal his face, he hides it but always has it to remember what happened as a permanent reminder of his hatred.

"From the fires of Betrayal unto the blood of revenge we bring the name of Lorgar, the Bearer of the Word, the favored Son of Chaos, all praise be given to him. From those that would not heed we offer praise to those who do, that they might turn their gaze our way and gift us with the Boon of Pain, to turn the Galaxy red with the blood, and feed the hunger of the Gods."

-Excerpt from the Three Hundred and Forty-First

It depends on what the Weirdboy did to his face I suppose, and a gold mask looks awesome. Also having a Space Marine that looks like Michael Jackson might not appeal to all...

Perhaps the damage was too risky/extensive to fix so they figured it was better to be safe.

Custom tailoring lists is the trademark of a bad player who doesn't know how to build an army that can adapt to different opponents. I play Warhammer not rock-paper-scissors

Plastic surgery isn't rare and lost in the Imperium, there have been worst cases than Tycho like in the Exorcists chapter(althought most of them required only minor reconstructive surgery),some Inquisitors etc...
O and it's far more advanced than our plastic surgery.

Think 'phantom of the opera'...

Yes they could have repaired his face, they could probably have grown a clone in a vat and cut the face off that and stuck it on there, BUT that is no-where near melodramatic enough for blood angels, they had to do something that would be theatre-production-worthy in order to maintain thier image as the galactic equivalent of emos...

I would say it's about pride. And coolness. When Tycho was sculpted only Dante and a standard captain had that "angel mask" AFAIK. I guess GW wanted to give a bit of unity to the BA minis line.

I love that sculpt to death.

There wasn't any actual damage done to Tycho's face- the Ork Wierdboy attack left him with a rictus grin on one side of his face. The mask is just there to hide the rictus grin, which is why it only covers half of his face.

But yeah, his face didn't need surgery as such (it wasn't burned or anything as far as I understand), he wears it just to hide the grin.

I heard BA are got angry when dameged on face.
Because their handsome face is "sacred gift" from primarch.

So,keep showing paralysis is insulting for primarch. Thats why he need hide it.

And,in eisenhorn trilogy,Eisenhorn face is paralysed and he told it is unrecoverable.

Because he wants an excuse to wear a mask? I really see no other reason than "the fluff writer wanted his own phantom"

It's because of pride and shame.

To remove the scars is akin to hiding his failure at the hands of the Orks, similar to how Cassius refused a new vat grown eye when he lost it against the tyranids.
