Yeah, best of luck with them essays!

The Deathwatch still look fantastic. I just finished the first couple of my own Deathwatch, and they are amazing models. I love what you're doing with them!

The general light situation at the moment means that 90%of my miniature pictures are poor as well. Good that in spite of your essay workload that you are still making progress, it must be a nice bit of a break from the uni work as well. The Mentor Sgt is especially good, as for Deadshot it is odd how some minis just refuse to be photographed but as you say he looks cool regardless.

Anyway, best of luck with the essay(s). 12 odd years after finishing uni I still occasionally wake up anxiously having had an anxiety dream about having missed a deadline!

I also have these dreams and graduated 11 years ago.

Deathwatch marines are coming along well. This is my favorite project you have worked on so far.

Haha, mine too! The drop pods are going to be a slog and I'm developing a primal hatred for that biker kit (seriously, how has that not been updated? I pity anyone playing a White Scars army! ) but the chance to work on so many of these wonderful new DW plastics is just a real treat. I'm going to try and sort some group shots when I have a moment, as they are really coming together as a force now!

I feel you on the pods and bikes not being fun. There's a reason I've only got one drop pod in my collection, and as a Ravenwing player, I hate the bike kit as well! Thankfully Ravenwing Black Knights have a different type of bike. The Chaos Bike kit is no fun either, let me tell you.

In spite of this, you're making those Deathwatch look SWEET! I look forward to seeing what you do with those pods (can't seem to recall ever seeing you do a vehicle of any kind).

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

Nice work on Deadshot Para. The muted washedout tones work really well on him. Looks like a tidy wee sculpt n all. You planning on anythign for his base?

Cheers folks! More to come soon, I'm through the worst of the workload now so should be freeing up some painting time later this week. The plan is to have at least one pod done by the weekend, and sort out my entry for this month's challenge. I know what I'm doing, but I haven't started work on it yet.

You know those days where you're hobbying and after an hour or two you've come up with something completely random out of nowhere? Today is one of those days.

I was asked by a fellow Dakkite about how I'd go about painting a Raptors Chapter Space Marine, and having thought through some hypothetical approaches, I just thought 'sod it' and decided to actually see how it went, as it occurred me they were a Chapter that really suited my style, yet I'd never painted any! I didn't have any marines spare, but after a bit of bits boxing I had most of one... Add a Vallejo paint pot lid and we've got a rudimentary 28mm 'bust' of sorts to test-paint.

Pretty pleased with this, it was nice and quick, a fun distraction and I think I've done a good job conveying the right sort of 'feel' even with only half the model to work on. So yeah, just a bit of fun while I had a moment spare. As always, cheers for looking, any thoughts welcome and normal marines-with-legs services will resume shortly!

The other options would be some entrails and a lot of blood.

Nice stuff, as always.

Thanks guys!

Essays are now done and dusted, and paint-wise a couple of things are nearing completion, namely the first Drop Pod and the BMG Joker crew, just a bit more to do on each. In the mean time, a couple more random asides, both Lords of Chaos...

First off another 'bust', again just put together from bits. I had the idea for a Fallen Dark Angel who is showing the effects of a few thousand years on the run in the Warp, with a tattered cape, improvised armour on his left arm, a sword that isn't exactly fancy, just practical.

And the Mighty Lord of Khorne from the AoS starter, not the best pictures so I'll take some better ones soon, and some Khorne character group shots as I've got a few now.

One of these will be my entry into this month's challenge, I'm not sure which yet. The Fallen is probably the better painted model but the Khorne guy fits the theme better. What do you guys reckon?

That's all for the moment, cheers for looking and any thoughts of course welcome!

I think I prefer the Mighty Lord better if I'm honest. Don't get me wrong the bust is very nice, but I love the cold colours on Khorne models.

I agree, the Mighty Lord is pretty good looking. Also he actually has legs!

Seriously though, nice job. I like your grim dark style. I try to do that with my models and they still end up looking too clean. Yours have a very gritty look to them.

To be fair given the general ineptitude of the Chaos marine codex vs their loyalist brethren I too would have to be legless to take them on

Really like what you have done with the Khorne Lord, still one of my favourite minis from the past couple of years, the face is a very nice contrasting hue and a great focal point.

Great to hear that your essays are done and dusted, and best of luck completing the commission

Cheers chaps!

Just a quick one today, finished of my Joker crew from Suicide Squad set. Really nice minis... I daresay you won't find a better machine gun wielding man in a panda suit on the market...

And better pics of my Khorne lord, made a few changes to him after the first round of photos.

That's all for now, any thoughts welcome!
