Again reviving an old idea/conversion that I adopted from Imperial Guard Message Board.
I used this midget drop tank as a substitute for a fully armored Sentinel. I actually have 3 built
that I use.

Here are pics of the painted drop tank:

The cylinders are suppose to be grav-chutes to aid in the decent of the tanks as they are
dropped off a transport. Anyway I just wanted to bounce this old conversion of mine.

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

Not bad, I have 4 tanks waiting to be "drop modified" to fit in with my IG.

I can only suggest adding more detailing to the grav-chutes - at the moment they kind of look like bits of tube stuck onto a tank - especially the ones at the back (which really need something to fill the big gap between them and the tank body).

The rest of the tank looks pretty cool - I love the rear section. It is just the tubes which let it down. Add some clamps, wires, rivets etc to them and they will look 10x better with very little effort. And as I said - fill in the gaps behind the side/rear chutes.

IMO that is better than a Sentinel.

heh... I thought it just had some spare track wheels attached as stowage... They definately need more work if they are supposed to be grav chutes

Except for that detail though I like them. How do they compare size-wise to the cargo Valkyrie?

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

A nice idea, my only gripe is that the main gun is maybe a bit too long, making it hard to stow and transport.

exactly what i thought!

I like it but it needs more detail for the gav chutes.

If you turn the turret around backward the gun would stow pretty well. There are some mold line issues on the gun and the smoke launcher - and I think the grav shoots could use more detail. And the tarp should be a different color than the tank IMHO.

Nice concept though - I could never justify destroying a chimera to create one, but I'm glad I've seen it.

totally awesome looking... it would fit in so much better with a mech guard army than a chimera.

After the orbital strikes, Thunderhawk bombardments, Whirlwinds, Vindicators, fusion and starfire and finally Battle Brothers with flamers had finished cleansing the world of all the enemies of Man, we built a monastery in the center of the largest, most radioactive impact crater. We named the planet "Tranquility", for it was very quiet now.

Who's a cute little tank then? Yes you are...

Ahem.

Seriously, nice job. I would second the thought that the cannon barrel is maybe a little long, but otherwise it's great.

Went ahead and shortened the barrel so that it can swing all the way back for easy storage in a transport as suggested.

I know there is a little problem with the mold line when I put it together, but overall I think the length of barrel is way better than original

inception.

Actually, I think the tank looks better going in this direction ! apart from shooting its own tailpipes off of course

Now it makes no sense to have a tank with the engine at the front, but maybe for the next incarnation, you could place the turret further back on the chassis.

I like the shortened barrel (other than the mould lines )

Nothing wrong with the tank deploying with its turret pointing backwards - in fact some real world tanks normally travel that way in non-combat situations, with their gun barrel clamped to the back deck to save wear and tear on the turret hyraulics.

Not sure what you could do to make better 'grav chutes' - the obvious direction would be something on the chassis sides where you currently have the rolled tarpaulins. Hmm, maybe the grav chutes are some sort of one-use items removed after landing, so you'd only need to model some attachment frames for the absent 'chutes'?

But I wouldn't stress over it - BA land Raiders can supposedly be dropped by Thunderhawks without needing grave chutes!

That's really nice.

Those wheel-chunk things on the front and sides are supposed to be grav thrusters, right? In which case, they really should be painted with scorching around the thruster nozzle. Actually, you could also go for some scorching on the tank itself near the thrusters. Basically it looks like the thrusters have never been fired.

As well, you might want to consider scorching coming up from the bottom from re-entry if the idea is that these guys get dropped from orbit.

Exactly. Drop Tanks have Turrets moved twords the back, and Short, Stubby Barrels. Rarely does a drop tank have a barrel that extends out in front of the Tank.

Here is the US Airborne's Drop Tank, the Sheriden. You will see what I mean.

Well... atleast it's easy to transport the tank.

The new barrel looks heaps better.
What's wrong with deep striking Land Raiders? I assume that just means that a thunderhawk transporter drops them into battle, like the one FW sells. Now deep striking baneblades would seem silly.

You should check out some of the tanks from WWI they would be around the size of your drop tank and they could give you some good ideas.

Nice, I haven't seen this concept before. I would maybe try to cut up some SM jump packs and attach them as thrusters. That is if it doesn't look TOO much like just gluing some jump packs on
