took me decades to get used to guiness - I used to think it tasted like cold black coffee with ale in it. But after many years of drinking cold black coffee at work(they are too stingy to buy us milk and we are too busy to wait for the kettle) I now quite like guiness.

guiness is great!... thats at least a beer that has a bit of a substance to it... not that horsepiss you get when you order a pilsner... yucky... guiness is very nourishing...

...

or are we talking about this fella here???

I personally, have never gotten used to Guinness. I love it, but can't get used to it. Much like Hefeweisen, it has a quality that just makes it good. Like sticking a 9 volt battery to your tongue. It doens't really feel good but it feels really good. Man, now I miss Hefeweisen, too. I quit drinking entirely, though, a little more than a decade ago.

Alec Guinness, on the other hand, well George Lucas owes that man an apoplogy for ruining what he helped make great in the first place.....

Not much more no.... sweet of you to say! I guess just the one decade since I first tried guiness. Still it took many years to develop a love of the black liquid bread. I'm afraid you might have to wait till warmer weather to strike Europe b4 seeing your painted beakie. I gotta strip it again because the cold screwed up the undercoat!

That's why I use brush on primer in the winter time. No sprays of any kind until Spring. Which means no terrain building because I'm not crazy enough to brush on that much primer.

I think I liked Guiness the first time I had it (at the Irish House in Kaiserslautern). But they served it in a wooden rack of little glasses so it's not like I started with a Pint.

Haven't brushed on a primer for a while! Any tips?

I use Vallejo Game Color brush on White Primer. I also have the Model Color White Primer but I haven't used it yet.

I use a wet palette so it stays thin. Let the first coat dry (maybe an hour depending on how dry the air is in your flat) and then apply a second coat where needed.

Hey weety, if that beekie is giving you too much trouble, I can make you a metal one from the parts I have in my vast collection of beakie stuff & send him along with the dread. I can even prime him for you if you'd like.

Yep, Weety kept harping on about Bob Olley's line so I took a look and fell for the Scrunt Dog Troop. I bought a pair of the single dogs, two of the handlers with dogs, the machine gun for the cart, and a scrunt weapon sprue.

http://www.olleysarmies.co.uk/mutanthuntersdogs.html

Olley's stuff is always amazing to me. He used to do a lot of GW's Rogue Trader sculpts back in the day.

Long time no reply - We have been busy over here with gardening - Got a smaller, cheaper, closer allotment and had to move all the tools plants and materials over in my renault hatchback - it is truly amazing what you can fit in a hatchback when the back seats are down.

don't worry gitsplitta I'm going to have to strip it again anyway so as long as you don't mind a little wait it should be fine - its already covered in stripper and half clean. Of course if you wanted to send one over and have me paint it I could do that too! Happy to oblige one such as yourself - I'm sure it will get played with and be appreciated.

Olley is the dude! I like the dog - looks like a sausage dog!

Here is some bits I'm interested in atm - A traitor marine who I have started - he got lots of black wash topped with a good drybrush in white just to get the basic tonal variations in. Now for some colour. And also a piece I found online - terrible paint job - but reminds me of what I would have done in my first year of painting! He is another Toon for the dip.

Wow, those are two great minis with a lot of personality. I'm not sure which I like best so I'll just wait to see which one you paint first.

Renault? Do you like it? The Clio I bought for my wife is a dreamy little car. I had no idea the French could build a good car. it's also very practical for European driving as long as your idea of practical doesn't involve going from 0-100 on the Autobahn in two shakes of a lamb's tail.

That Olley dog is definitely a Wiener Dog (AKA Dauschund). I liked it immediately because it looks like my giant Wiener Dog, Max.

It's a bit cold for gardening right now, isn't it?

It may be minus 30 centigrade in central europe but cornwall benefits from direct contact with the gulf stream and we had quite a warm weekend - warmer than the previous few days thats for sure.

No hurry to paint those - my arms are like jelly from lifting.

WOW Weety! The headlamps are amazing!! They look like they are really on!!

I have always loved the old classic Sentinel, except for the fact that the pilot would make easy prey for a sniper the second it stopped moving

Very nice weety... I agree with dstein... the headlights make for great focal points and the orange armor is a nice visual break from the grey.

For some reason, that old walker makes me think of this:

Perhaps it's the legs?

It looks wonderful Weety, and it is a great addition to your very unique collection. Heck, make that unique and draw-dropping.

No assault cannon! What is the world coming to and what are they teaching these kids in school. You gotta have an assault cannon, you just gotta.

The Bomb! Thanks and cheers to you all. I would paint less but for all your comments and constructive advise. I wasn't expecting to get such a vibrant headlight colour - looks like its got LEDs in it. Its just a very thick smooth layer of white with a watered down yellow wash
