The Wet Nurse wasn't part of the Kickstarter, was it?

Hmm. Maybe there are some armor kits that sort of, erm, snap on it the back maybe?

Still interested in the update. Excitement level high.

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I paint things occasionally. Some things you may even like!

They're titled similarly that I forget to post what where sometimes. Or which is which.

So... Update today or tomorrow right?

This one here is for Kickstarter stuff.

The 'general' one for Kingdom Death, titled "Kingdom Death - News and Rumors Thread" is here:

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/503919.page

So, while news from the Kickstarter could certainly show up there, general news and stuff really shouldn't end up here.

I certainly hope so.

And I really hope we finally get a firm ship date, though I doubt that's going to happen!

I've subscribed to both- if you'll notice both start with "Kingdom Death" and I've been a little quick on the trigger today. I apologize.

I'm hoping for an assembled Spidicules myself- I really liked the original and I'm curious how the revised version will turn out. Maybe we'll see more painted models as well. *cough*Dragon King*cough*

So the latest update is out, and...it is awesome!

However:

No more estimates. The project and its fulfillment will be done, when it's done.

Huh.

So, there's a very real possibility of this one slipping - a lot.

Like, maybe 2015 even.

Oh well!

Well, it was only $79 I put in. Glad I didn't go in more when the pledge manager was reopened.

So the one key thing that no one has said yet:

The game will be $250 at retail, contains over 1000 cards, and has a 223 page rule/lore book.

Holy nuts.

And weigh in at 12lbs. How much did Ogre weigh again?

Ogre was around 25 pounds, IIRC.

Don't get me wrong, we're getting a LOT here, and it will be very nice.

And we'll saving a TON over retail - even discounted retail, if it even ever makes it to that.

But, I'd have like so clue as to when this is going to ship.

Because right now, I'm seeing '2015'.

I got the same notification four times in a row..

As much as I loathe the fact that it's being pushed back into 3D Realms territory now with the infamous "When it's done, it's done" quote, Adam is still better than Raging Heroes.

The update broke KS again so some people got a notification, others got lots and others none.....

Adam (&co?) then resorted to sending individual messages to at least some of us letting us know it was up

Customs and tax that I'll have to pay for bringing this in to the UK is 20%, right? Being told "hard luck, suck it up and pay an extra $230US" doesn't make me feel like a valued customer.

Its not like Poots made your country's import taxation laws, or that this is a new thing when buying from out of the UK.

Indeed, can't exactly blame the business for your country's ludicrous import taxes.

Nor can you expect them to lie on custom papers and jeopardize their business to get it to you cheaper.

Adam never said he'd be able to shipping from within the EU so we were always going to have to pay this

It would have been nicer if his investigations had show him a way to do so (with the money he has), but at least he tried (and continues to do so)

I think he feels he has to be blunt as more recent projects (that have planed to do so right from the start) are more common and backers may come to expect him to do the same and thus be badly surprised when he can't. It also means we have plenty of warning to start saving to pay the tax

Bathing in elitist French expats fumes

I spent a day in Vermont during Canada Day (yes, not the best way to be patriotic, I know). and we bought antiques. The border guards asks if we purchased anything, and I say yes and hand him the receipts... he looks at me like I am nuts.

Taxes are my salary... I might as well pay them.

To be fair, the taxes are paid even on "EU-friendly" Kickstarters, they are just pre-paid by the distributor before dispatch. This is much more efficient because:

1) VAT is charged on the full amount, shipping included, and shipping cost per unit on a freight container entering the EU is lower than 2000 individual packages.

2) If the VAT is not paid before dispatch, then the courier/postal service collecting it has to pay it, and then bills you for this amount + a flat fee of around $15 equivalent. Yes, even for that $30 order.

So EU-friendly Kickstarters still charge fairly high shipping, but use that shipping to pay the (lower) VAT charges in advance. I can totally understand why Adam wasn't able to secure this, although it is a bit of a blow when combined with 1) him not wanting to go to retail, and 2) him not having an EU distributor for retail lined up.

For example, I was able to get the 'basic' Survivor late-pledge last year, which doesn't allow add-ons - fair enough. If I decide that I want e.g. the King expansion at release, I'd have to pay $80 + ~$25 shipping + $21 VAT+$15 handling fee = ~$141. That's just not an attractive price, and Adam is only seeing half of every penny being spent on that purchase.

I have to admit, I am so sad I didn't have the money to get in on this that I dread it ever actually shipping, because when it ships I will be on the outside looking in at the warm glow of everyone putting together their models, while I shiver out in the cold and think of what might have been.

And yea, seriously EU people and Brits, your import regulations are bonkers. I think you need to start throwing politicians into the harbors. Tea might not cut it

Yeah, despite the Pledge manager reopening I'm unwilling to invest further. We see a picture of what's been completed (model production wise) but no scaling on the time required to complete the outstanding models and moulds. I dread a 2015 delivery time!

While I think its great Poots has tried to ram as much Art, models, and cards into the game as possible, I do think he needs to pull the trigger and leave it to produce and complete. Extra sections could be done later as "expansions" or "companion" packs. The new game now looks very unwieldy compared to its original form, and I think for retail he should consider stripping down the content to reduce the price and weight of the item, then package up the rest as an add-on if people want more than the base game.
