Thanks for all feedback, suggestions and kind words.
Sorry for not posting any pics of my next board yet - adding finishing touches to this board is taking ages.

As you can see, even the Govenor is inspecting the WIP paintjob on the houses:

Obviously the Adeptus Arbites will have a strong presence:

Also I am building/painting Imperial Flyers:

... for my next board (which will be an alien infested and overgrown spaceport/helipad/airstrip).

Oh I love the statue. Looking down to the loyal citizens of the empire. And I vote for Tyranid infection. Or at least a slimy hidden brodnest.

I burst out laughing when I saw the posters "No need to panic" Brilliantl capture of the WH40K spirit! Oh, and overall, some seriously impressive work. Awesome, in the word's proper sense.

i struggled to get my first 5 scouts primed, painted 1/4 decently... you have waaaaay too much time. Awesome looking board - you should look into miniature set building - its great, you build stuff - film crews blow it up... they pay you for it i believe.

That table qualifies as "too nice."

Obviously it looks totally fantastic, and honestly, if you shot it right it could probably fool people into thinking it was a real place.

That said, I can't see playing on it. People don't put their Golden Demon winning models down on the game table, and they certainly don't put other models on top of their Golden Demon winning models.

Not that they have a Golden Demon for gaming tables, but if they did...

As stated above my next board will be an alien infested and overgrown spaceport/helipad/airstrip.

I would really appreciate if you could help me with ideas and suggestions for that project. Also, links to any artwork or pics of other terrain - with a distinct Tyranid feel - would be nice.

Litchi peelings are great to look like some alien eggs broken open. I hope someone on your team likes eating them. And I think there are a lot of little pseudo spore chimneys/ brood pools with the genstealer plastic box. What seems important to me is to show how the Nid influence changes the landscape which could result in a change of the colour of the ground around those brood pools and spontanious plant growing. Ideal would be a corrupted park. For the spaceport it would be cracked in several ways and nid plans cuming out the gaps like spiky ivy. And in the middele a graet tree with a lot of bubble things containing winged reapers. Like those trees in diablo II. That would make the change from technical to biological perfect. You can also do a spring with no water but a jaw full of teeth. Maybe some cracked open pipes with tentakels coming all out of it. Maybe some weird kind of pipe tree. Or a corrupted tree which roots crawling all over the place some skeleton/victims in between. A by flora half consumed tank/ heli would be nice. A broken building with slimy cocoons on its walls. Slime could be done very well with normal glue but i do not think i am telling you anything new here. So far for the brainstorming.

[EDIT]: SORRY SORRY. Accidental bump. My browser predictably screwed up.

Apologies, apologies.

"And what is wrong with their life? What on earth is less reprehensible than the life of the Levovs?"
- American Pastoral, Philip Roth

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.
No soldier's paid to kick against His powers.
We laughed - knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each proud fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags.
