I've done some work on the trailer but .. meh .. not happy. It looks like a frikkin iron duck! While I was building it I had another thought though - I could use the Brass Scorpion rules. I've got a few cool fluff ideas too:

A painboy and a big mek came up with an idea after seeing one of them Chaos boyz Brass Scorpions about making one that was driven by a weirdboy. Strangely enough, they managed to trap one and his grot "assistants" and hardwired him into the machine and thought it would be a great machine for the waagh! Instead the weirdboy went bonkers (more than normal), as a result of them being confined with the weird boy for too long so did the grots, so now they are crazy the weird boy is crazy and they're all dangerous to know.

The painboy and the mek thought it was hilarious watching the psychos destroy half their camp, but then realised that having a shortage of orks afterwards wasn't that good an idea. So they worked out how to sedate the whole thing and then let it loose in battle.

I'll count the apocalyptic explosion rules as "You ain't takin us alive!" (self destruct), BS3 because Grots are shooting, Ignore shaken and stunned because they're all nuts anyways, and guns as eksperimental weird boy wepons.

Anyway, enough blather:

I don't think I like the trailer. It seemed like a cool idea, but it looks like a duck. A big metal boomy duck.

Da Rig was screaming for underslung flamers, so happy that he's getting at least one. And with the brass scorp rules, those are some serious flamers

I can handle the BS rules for the thing, fit its spidery legged-ness better and you've got the counts as 'excuse' fluff all sorted.

But the Iron Duck, that's gonna be a battlewagon or something, right? No sense letting something big and killy go to waste.

I dig the Brass Scorpion rules for it. I won Most Killy in our last Apocalypse game after blowing one up. Granted, if you take away all of those killed that were on my team, the title goes away, but still. It just isn't Apoc if I don't kill more of my own team than the enemy by virtue of blowing up a titan or two!

I hate the trailer too. I think if you do it, it should be a little less solid looking, perhaps like a flat bed with a big dakka cannon on a tripod or crane arm. Something like that. Alternately, a leg at a reverse angle in the middle of the rear could hold a big pile of shoota's in a digging scoop to maintain the "scorpion" look. A scorpion dragging a tank just doesn't looke like it should be fast and scary though.

Da Rig = sweet!
Da Iron Duk = not quite so much.

I'm trying to think what you could do to it to help it...In general, I think it's too narrow and too high. The center of gravity on it looks off. I think it needs to be wider and lower. I think you need to have some fatty exposed tracks (or maybe a half-track setup) on the sides...lengthen the tail end with an open bed area...a good toothed, Orky front bumper - or a nice big dozer blade...some Orky targeters and gubbins on the sides of the turret to widen it out.

On another note, I just got information today that the buyer of the Stompa received it today in no less than 28 pieces! Apparently customs opened the box and it would appear the mongrels have failed to re-pack the item correctly. As a result the stompa has been badly damaged. Hopefully it can be repaired. But it's in the Netherlands and I am in Australia. What a sad turn of events on this issue.

The Iron Duck isn't going to be the trailer. There was considerations to make a huge set of wide tracks for it, maybe I'll still do it and count it as a gunwagon or something. Gotta have comedy in the army, eh?

Seeing the iron duck sitting behind the Dig Rig almost resembled a spider abdomen. I know it deviates from the concept art, but perhaps boy transport can be accomplished by a rear-fixed, "spider abdomen" style cabin? Magnetized to allow removal for Brass Scorpion rules lovin, of course.

Regardless, she's looking dead hard so far, great stuff.

Ok, here is Da Klaw of Gork finished. Just awaiting undercoating now. I am still working on what the equivalent weapons are, at this point it will probably be Killkannon, Supa Skorcha, and Mega Dakka Gun. They won't be exact and there will be slight differences but I need to check up all the rules to make it work.

Love it! You get a hell of a lot of mileage from those things you made the cannon from. What are they, some sort of film canister?

I kinda thought they were glue stick tubes, but the interior ridges throw me off.

On the model, yeah for more underslung skorchas, but I can't help but feel that the main gun is just sorta stuck on there. Doesn't really look built in to me, mostly a stubby barrel poking outta the driver's cabin.

Yeah you're right. I just can't work out how to make it look more integrated without going too far. I'm content to leave it how it is...

The cannon is actually a pen we got once, and it's the only one I ever got and have ever been able to find. It's really pi$$ing me of that I can't find more because that interior detail is EXACTLY what I want for more of these kinds of cannon... oh well... gotta make do with what you can.

I have nothing to add except to say that the spider walker has given me a brain storm and I intend to blatantly rip this idea off. I'm going to make it bigger (quite a lot bigger with any luck) and use the Slasha Gargant rules off Bell of Lost Souls though. Wild Wild West meets AT-AT. Amazing work. So sorry the customs goons stomped the Stompa. :(

Nice idea I was considering making something similar but couldn't find any decent pics of the WWW spiderbot.

This is todays business, I've started doing some more koptas.

Now I have these guns sitting around and think they look great from the front but weird from the side - lemme know what you reckon:

The guns do look a bit weird from the side..

Any chance of removing most of the outer casing, leaving some bands of metal to hold the pipes?

If you ask me that would look great.

They're actually a moulded gun from a real world weapon off a plane or something. Dunno what it was, just know it's a gun and the casing doesn't come off.

I rekon they look preaty sweet, at first glance from the side I thought you should drop the guns lower about a 1/2 an inch to show more of the texture of the side hull then you could put a grate top on the gun and maybe a ladder so the ork could get in the kopta "oi watch you 'ead!" good sfuff man!

Ok, here's a small update and a link to the data sheet. I've built most of the second kopta, I intend to make three more and I'll try and make them according to the pictures of the deff koptas in the codex. And you can see a pic of duckie with a mock up set of tracks. I don't know if I'll continue, but we'll see.

And a previous "kopta" with a shortened base, coz it kept falling over.

Yes! I love what you did with the Iron Duck! I would not want to face that on the battlefield. (Well, I mean, as this one is made out of cardboard, I wouldn't mind facing on the battlefield as long as I had a bottle of water I could squirt it with to make it soggy...but you know what I mean.)

I actually like the DuckTank... it just fits as the Ork attempt at making a big killy tank like 'dem 'oomies make.

It'd have to be a Blood Axe vehicle. Maybe even call it the 'Duk' or something like that.

You could make it an homage to the movie Unforgiven. While the name of the tank would actually be the "Duke of Death", the way the Orks would spell it would be "Duk o' Deth".

Well, here's a small update, I got this early for my birthday (which is tomorrow) - what can I say - my brother rocks! And to prove that he came third in an air guitar comp...half cut...that's another story:

And here is the truck, which I LOVE by the way. This is another awesome model that GW has brought out in recent time and I wasn't even going to modify it, except that I don't like the front they provide standard and I wanted it to be equipped with a rokkit and I was gonna make a big snippy arm instead of the chain ball but the chain ball looked cooler than the arm I started making so I kept it....

Close up of the rocket assembly - it's a bit oversized but that's really orky!

One thing I've thought of that would be AWESOME is to cut the trukk in half between the back set of wheels and convert it into a war buggy. That would look sweet. Now to get more of the new trukks...cheaply...

I was surprised at just how awesome the new trukk is. They've outdone themselves. Surprisingly complex. I love the rokkit assembly, very cool!

Groovy truck, and a kit must be impressive when the Lemmspawn is content not bashing the hell out of it

Let me know what you think of the new bikes, I'm tempted to mess with them in my unending-but-top-secret mission to make lo-tech jetbikes work.

And of course, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Lemms.
