Yeah this is something that is getting reimplemented. Only 2 users have complained so far, but if more moan I'll make it a higher priority, so if it bugs anyone else than make it known!

KiMonarrez wrote:And Legoburner, out of curiosity. What happens if I click "ignore" on my posts? As in the ones I posted? I don't wanna try it and get sent to purgatory on accident.

I didnt see the point of adding a block to prevent that, so you can ignore yourself, making all your posts vanish from your view. If you chat a lot it might be useful to avoid re-reading your stuff, but the only real point to it is that it is somewhat amusing.

Janthkin wrote:Clicking on "articles" in the menu bar takes me to the right section, but I'm not logged in there. Different login/cookie combo?

Ah crap, yeah your cookies will be from the previous version of dakka. Click 'logout' then login again, and if that does not work you will need to clear your cookies for dakka and then try again. Sorry about that, it didnt cross my mind until now.

Hmmm I can be friends with and ignore someone.

Seems like friend wins out though.

You did test that one didn't you.

Kind of... the friend/ignore button will vanish for a user once you set one of them. If you use the back button then yes, you can set both as the link will still be in your cache, but in real usage people wont really be able to do it. There is no real point to it, they will just get both sets of features applied to a single user, it wont hurt anything.

Right now I'm at work which means I use IE and there's a nasty firewall. I don't see the Ignore or Friend icons in the bottom right, but if I hover my mouse around down there something flashes. Also, I'm still having a problem with seeing my posts as new posts on the thread instead of seeing the thread as "read". And when I click the "go to newest post" or whatever it is it still takes me to the begining of the thread every now and then. Haven't tried it at home where I use Firefox though.

I just lost the game...

You have the old stylesheet in your cache or in your company's proxy server. Click shift-refresh or ctrl and refresh and hope for the best. You might need to wait a couple of days for the update to filter through the office proxy if you have one :(

Yeah I am working on this one but it will be a couple of days as I am putting up a couple of fixes at once and need to test them all first.

(From my edited post, previous page - I missed that the thread had made it to multiple pages already)

1) Right this moment (edit post window), I have an ebay ad flashing away across the top of my screen. Ewww. *edit 2: actually, I have ads across all the forums as well.

2) Also, mousing over a subject line in a post turns it red, but doesn't seem to do anything. Is there supposed to be some functionality there?

Janthkin, could you (for 1) logout then login again and let me know if you still see the ad. If you do (after logout/login), then could you go to the dakka homepage and let me know if you see ads there too?

2) this is not a bug, I am just lazy with formatting. It is an anchor (like a link) but without a target - it is used for linking to individual posts in a thread but the red highlighting is just a curiosity that I am too lazy to clean up

Login/logout removed the banners, thanks.

edit: though the empty white box is still there (in Opera), as it's been since we changed over to dakka v5.

Could you move the "Set all threads as read" link to just under the forum navigation links in the upper-left part of the page? It'd be handier there, so you could click to set a forum as read, and click again (with minimal mouse movement) to move back to the top level of the forum, before clicking (again, on the left side of the window) to enter a different forum.

Click 'logout' then login again. If that does not work then clear your cookies for dakka and then login again and it should all work fine. There was a one-off change to one of the login cookies at the last release.

I already logged off / loggin in to get my DCM anti-ad ability back up. And actually, I was just reading a longer post and when I was done and clicked my PMs I had to log back in ...

But I can try the cookie clearing, I know my work comp needs it

- Salvage

EDIT -- Cookie wipe seems to be working so far, I'll let you know if I continue to be logged out inexplicably.

For some reason, the Dakka Discussions forum has only 1 thread.

Just a display bug that happens rarely. Thanks for reporting it, I am working on tracking down the source. Nothing bad is happening to the actual threads, just the forum display going a bit funky

I also noticed that some of the "hotter" threads, whenever I click on the "skip to first unread" it'll usually go to the beginning of the thread. Hope you understood that.

As far as I am aware that is just a one-off glitch from where we switched from the old read tracking system to the new read tracking system which should sort itself out as time goes on. I'll keep an eye on it though.

I'm getting intermittent logouts. When I try to post
sometimes through quick reply it asks me to login. When
I try to login it fails. Backing up in the browser and
attempting to post again it lets me post.

Malfred, have you cleared your Dakka cookies since the rollout of Dakka 5.12? That resolved pretty much all my login/out problems across multiple computers.

*edit: Screwing around with quote tags

I'm making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS.

The "double click to edit" functionality is neat, but a little odd. First, I can't determine when I can use it. Second, it prompts (via popup) for a "Reason for change" - failure to enter a reason results in a stern popup, and the loss of the edits. But the reason is never included in the post.

*edit: Is it related to quotes?

This was a triumph.

*edit2: Yes, it is! Inclusion of a quote in this message allows "Double click to edit" .

The double click edit stuff is just a hangover from a mod/admin tool. The general version for regular users has a lot of rough edges that I need to clean up at some point (as you have noticed).

It's handy. I may start including quotes at random, just to enable it for my own nefarious purposes.

*Edit: Also, just for your reference, it looks like "double click to edit" does not flag the post as edited. E.g., I edited one post that way, and it lacks the "This post was edited X times" tag. Another post (up above), I edited my quoted text, and it didn't increment the edited count.

it always updates the edit count, but you might have to refresh to clear your cache to see the update when the update occurs by double-click editing.

When I logged on Dakka today the Modeling forum was limited to just 4 threads, with no sticked threads at the top. Now there are 6 or so, I'm guessing because of new posts having been added since I've been on.
