Kantor reminds me a bit of the GD 99 Captain. Partially it's the paintjob, but a lot of it is design.
It's like "Goldilocks" a bit. Some figures have too much bling, and some not enough. Kantor is just right. Nice pose as well. He's a very solid figure.

Sheesh!
I like these models, but I could have done with a lot less "sculpted in" Utramarine symbols...
And a good call on Scout Bikers = Rough Riders too!

That Techmarine Gun-thingy is a joke. Looks to me, like somebody at GW thought: "hmmm, oh look! All the Space Marine Players are pissed because the Shokk attack gun is so big and powerfull. Well then, I guess we have to give them one too." retards....

There is no such things as retirement for Marines! You only can switch your armour an join the scouts. There you can tell the young ones your old warstories by the campfire, till something with AP4 shots at you.

The Thudd Gun has been around since Rogue Trader. It's just one of a whole range of Imperial artillery that didn't make it past the 2nd edition Black Codex.
dienekes96 wrote:That is now FIFTEEN metal veterans the SM's have got since 2004. Geez, I love Power Armor, but...
I actually think the idea of constantly revolving Vet models is a good one. Gives trainee sculptors something to practice on (or veteran sculptors something to do in their spare time), so long as they keep doing them in metal costs bugger-all to produce a mould which would have to be replaced sooner or later if they kept the same models anyway, and gives players a bit more variety.
I'd actually love to see them doing something similar on a more widespread level... every year or two release another set of Veterans, a set of Exarchs, a few Ork Nobs, a gaggle of Guard Officers, etc...
As for the pics... there's some lovely stuff in there. Love the Scout Captain (Although I can't help thinking he would have suited a shotgun more than that bolter), not so sure about the scout bikes... although at least these ones (assuming they're all plastic) should have riders that are the same size as regular scouts.

I love Kantor with the exception of his gun. I converted my own Grey Knights for the primary reason I disliked their gauntlet mounted Storm Bolters, and now here they've done gone and did it to a sweet Power Fist wielding guy I could have used as yet another "He's only a Sergeant?" Sergeant.
Vets are sweet. Most the whole squad has power weapons? That's not gona be cheap. And we know combis arn't going away since they've got one of those in there.
Land Raider is ok I guess. I'll probably have to get one or at least the upgrade sprue for those flamers.
Love that Techmarine. Too bad we're getting ours when they're no longer untargetable independent characters like the Orks have currently.
No use for the scouts. My marines don't field em. That capt does look nice though.
I wana see the Salamanders character...

Dude I LOVE the new cover. It's so brutal and to the point. It's everything I love about Space Marines. Guy is just blasting a hole in that dude and keeps walking. Like he's zombie hunting with a boltgun.
And I have to agree with most everyone here. Not a marine player myself, but this could certainly change my mind. No matter what I say about GW, they really do make great space marine miniatures.

I don't play Marines, but these models are so damn tempting. The Assault Marine raising the power sword with two hands is just plain cool.
All in all, these absolutely blew my socks off. Fantastic way to kick off the first codex after 5th edition's release.

Scout bikes are great, and definitely need to be converted into Rough Riders. Or maybe I should finally do something with all those plastic Squats I have been saving...

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal. |
