Hmmm.. weren't Landspeeders considered "Open-topped" in an older codex, but it didn't matter as the crew were in power-armor? If the Transport Speeder is open topped, it'll mean CC Scouts could assault from it.. so there's an option.
Also, does anybody familiar with the new SM rumors know if scouts are getting the Scout USR? If so, they can still Flank, but since the Scout USR also applies to the dedicated transport, they could perform their flanking movement aboard their transport. 24" move from the side... or a 12" move and then assault. That would be so handy that it'll probably not happen.

Looks ill, and I like the idea of an "Air Cav Air Mobile" force (kind a thing that 40k can do right now that is cool and unique).
I could be critical here but I dig flying machines way to much.

Considering that concept just encouraged them to cut more specialised units out of some books because there wouldn't be models available for a while, if ever, I'm glad if it fades away.

you can cut a landspeeder in half and put one of those metal pallete or 2 from the 40k battlefield accesory spruesin between works quite nicely from the aerial guard army or the orignal one i saw with the the blood angels army in about 1999 or somthign...

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal. |

Ubermosher has a good point, and it's suprising that no one has remarked upon it.
Assuming the rule for Armor 4+ or worse making this transport open-topped hasn't changed (can anyone check that?), and the Scout applies to the transport too (also needs confirmation), these little suckers could be carrying in 18" total assaults (move 12 assault 6) from the side of the board. That's nice.
Anyone who can confirm or disprove those two points would be a very helpful fellow obsessive.

thank god this is coming. I've wanted to make one of these for so long its not even funny. yes it is open topped and their in carapce armor I can see people using this as a quick way to drop a firebase and grab objectives then send the skimmer away to contest
but I don't care I finally can validate buying 2 speeders and chopping them into bits.

Yeah, you can possibly have a scout only army now. They have the scout captain, the scouts, scout snipers (so so cool, i love 'em), and the land speeder transports. One problem though, where the heck do the scouts sit??? In the engine bay, on the sides, or back seats??? Umm... just realised that the scout speeder has a back set of seats, and is considerably bigger than the normal land speeders.

Not if you buy the new $15 special character they don't!

Best rumors I've heard is that Scouts are going to be Troops by default. The special character merely improves a member of a scout squad's BS.

Won't happen for BA and DA. original 3rd ed codices for BA had the scouts limited as well, and the books are printed.
GW has said they won't make wholesale changes to published books
