Awsome, I was wondering how long it'd take for someone to do one of these.
Yours is the first I've seen and really sets the mark for these.
I doubt the GW kit will be as detailed.

Ok guys, first I just want to say thanks to everyone for being so kind in your replies. You always worry when you build something like this on what other people will think of your work. It seem most folks like it so far. I guess I can't let you all down with my painting. So here is my step by step painting process for my version of desert paint. I always use the same kind of primer for all my models. Its worked for years, and its dirt cheap. It also sticks to resin like glue. Clean resin or not. Anyway, you can pick it up at your local Autozone for less then $5.00. Its called Dupli-Color Sandable Primer in Flat Black. Once I primed the tank I do another Autozone special, The Ultra Flat Krylon Camouflage Sand color. This works as my base and it goes on super tough. The next step is to paint all the black areas. Tracks, Gun, small details, and anything else you want blacked out. I use Boltgun Metal to dry brush some contrast to my blacks, and then its on to the red, green, yellow, and white details. The Krylon sand makes it super easy to apply light colored GW paint. Its seems like the stuff loves their paint. I only apply one coat of all my colors regardless the shade.
That's all I have done up to this point. I'll have the tank finished by tomorrow night and should have some final pics with more painting details. I included a picture of the Leman Russ to give you a final idea of what its going to look like. Once all my detail work is done, I do a kind of black varnish mix that I hand cook up at home. If anyone likes the look, just IM me and I'll send you the directions on how to make the stuff. It works better than the new GW washes, and it adds a layer of protection to the paint. Say good bye to chipped paint.
Anyway, here are some pics. Let me know your thoughts guys. Thanks

Just to clear it up for everyone. This version of Bane is open topped and does have an open section in the back. The book says that up to 20 guardsman can shoot from the shooting platform. So to answer the question, no the back will not be covered since the book calls for it to stay open. Also, there are some cad or blueprint dawings going around of this tank from GW and it clearly shows the back being open. They are working on the kit and will release it sometime next year as a complete kit. I just had to have it now.

so, when it says 20 troops, is that 20 troops period or a less number of SM? Just asking.
Oh, the tank. Let's just say that I agree w/ the retarded pelican statement. Wow.

The Reload book says that the Stormlord can carry up to 40 Guardman, and up to 20 can fire out of the open top from the firing platform. So that's 40 guys transported and 20 that can cause some damage until they get to where they get dropped off. Plus the thing has a 15 shot Volcan Mega Bolter. Its an amazing tank in every way. I can't wait to lay some waiste to horde armies like ORKS and BUGS. Just think what this thing would do to a 12 man ork mob in open terrain. OUCH ORKS, no saves and you just got lit up. Suck it!

As much as I hate the idea and rules for the Stormlord (did we really need a vehicle that makes two FW tanks look like kids' toys?), I must give you applause for a speedy, skilled and professional looking conversion. Your tank is almost an exact match to the GW concept art.

Ok guys, so here is what I have so far. I only have a few more small details to work out. Some bullet holes and dirty up the tracks a bit and its finished. Plus a coat of matt varnish to get rid of the shine. I should have that done by tomorrow night. Its Friday, so it's wife date night. That may keep things from getting done until Saturday. Anyway, let me know your thoughts. I know not everyone likes this paint style, but my whole army is painted this way, so I had to stick to it. I personally love it because its fast and looks amazing when there are 30 other tanks around it. Hope you all like. Later

The wash is a home cooked mix. Its made from basic stuff you find at Michaels or any craft shop and it costs less than $2.00 per 2oz bottle to make. It beats the pants off the new washes, and its super easy and fast to make. If anyone wants to know how to make the stuff, just IM me and I'll send over the info. By the way, for those who don't realize what 2 oz compared to the GW wash pots, here goes. You can fit about 9 normal pots of wash into one of these 2 oz bottles of my mix. That's less than 25 cents per oz to make the stuff yourself. Anyway, let me know if you guys need to know more. Last pics coming in a bit.

Some of you have IM me about the wash. Here is all the info you need on how to make the stuff and what the bottles look like when you go to Michael's.
All of this stuff I got at my local Michael's Craft Store.
You can buy it anyplace that sells this type of craft junk.
Here is what you need, and follow each part to the letter to get the result you saw on my tank.
1. Buy a 2 oz empty plastic bottle with the little white pore top on it. If you don't know what this looks like, just check out the paints and look for the Delta Creative paints for the size and look of these.
Just remember, you just need empty ones that have no paint so you have a place to mix your new wash.
2. Buy the 8 oz bottle of Delta Ceramcoat All-Purpose Sealer. $5.00 or so. It is a clear milky solution in a clear bottle with a fruity rainbow on it.
3. Buy the 4 oz bottle of Liquitex Flow Aid. $7.00 or so. Again, its a clear bottle but it has orange and black trim on it.
4. Buy or use your GW Chaos Black normal paint.
Once you have all these items you'll need to mix it the following way.
Take your 2 oz empty bottle and fill it with almost 2 oz of the All-Purpose Sealer. This should fill right to the top where the plastic bottle gets small to screw the top on.
Then take your Flow Aid, and with a steady had put 2-4 drops of the Flow Aid. Again, just 2 to 4 DROPS not oz. You don't need very much of this Flow Aid to work.
Lastly comes the Chaos Black. Put in 12 drops of the Chaos Black.
When you put in the black it will look very strange, like its not going to mix because the drops of black will just sit there. Don't worry, that's how you'll know its working. Just screw the top on and make sure you hold on to the bottle.
Start shaking it up and down, and like magic the whole thing will turn a dark grey black. That easy.
All you have to do before you use it, is to remember to shake it well, and let it sit for about 2 minutes for the bubbles to pop.
Also, it works better if you store these cap side down. The flow aid seems to try and separate from the color and goes to the bottom of the bottle. This does not hurt it, it just makes for more shaking. If you store it upside down, this does not happen.
That's it, and good luck.
Romeo Aka DiabloBats.

Wow, that is awesome, if it is true that they are going to come out with a GW one next year then I can wait as I take off from the hobby when I head back to college in August and currently have to much work on my painting table. Looks amazing great work on it, when I build mine i want to try to make the vulcan mega bolter spin.

I think this is one great build, but I keep looking at the model and then to the art work and then to my own personal model and back to the book. I see one thing even the sketch work shows.. This design that GW gave us makes me think of the German Stug series of armored vechicles. In the art the tank is hull mounted like the StuG Infantry Assault Tank. Why did they print the Mega Bolter Turrent Mounted? I am not saying your tank is not pretty. I just wondering if you have heard that the tank is right? I am in the finishing part of modeling this tank. I made it with a conversion of the turrent to hold the bolter, before I paint, I would like to know if you have heard different?
Thank you so much
