But surely with Orks you'll have enough points to 'squeeze' that in, wouldn't you?

Yeah, but there's not really any point in having an entire squad of nobz with PKs, so in those mobs 'uge choppas can be usefull, as a squad leader though, PK all the way.

Is that a Dark Eldar Shuriken Catapult I see before me? (top left...CAD image is a bit more ornate, and the illustration has spiky blades....)
And img_1691 next to the Dragon....a new Wyvern? Don't think it's Azhags either,

Good eye! That does look like a 1st/2nd edition shuricat, from before they had "clips" of ammo, and had the disk of ammo on top. I personaly always liked that style more, so it is interesting to see it return... even if weilded by the Dark eldar. However, I am not sure that it must be a DE gun, the "spikes" are no larger than on other eldar guns, and appear to be more angular, like a wraithbone construct fin. If it was a traditional DE gun, it would have huge spikes.

Maybe the new Dark Eldar will be less spiky and more skully and severed heady.

As far as I know, Dark eldar don't use clips but small amounts of dark matter for their guns, and the blop on top of the "shuriken catapult" looks exactly like one. I think that is good news for dark eldar players as they are rather decent looking, without an overuse of spikes.

Back to the nobs, I think they look like some of the best orks yet. Sadly I just started my nob squad from converted black orcs, which will have cost me more than these guys would have, and mine won't look nearly as ace.

It looks a lot more Archaic than Eldar Weapons though, and I cannot think of a single example of a Craftworld Weapon with Bayonet or other attachments. Not to say they don't exist, just that I don't recall any.
Plus, the Stock is a distinctly new addition, as the current Craftworld stuff just has them as a Pistol Grip...

If this is indeed true, I think I might be ok with 3 forgeworld nobs actually being:

*1 Boxed set of 5 Plastic Nobs
*3 Bikes worth of forgeworld upgrades
If that is what came in for £50 (96us) I think I would be cool with that.

RULE OF COOL: When converting models, there is only one rule: "The better your model looks, the less people will complain about it."
GW defines WYSIWYG: An important principle of our events is "what you see is what you get" or WYSIWYG (pronounced "wizzywig") for short. All this means is unless you are using the 'counts as' rule (see below), then miniatures are assumed to have their equipment actually shown on the model. It would be grossly unfair to show the model being equipped with one thing, but claiming it to be armed with another; wars have been started for less.
GW defines COUNTS AS: The 'Counts As' rule allows you to apply the rules for existing units to older or scratch built models that do not have rules of their own. This is to allow you to make full use of your collection or the army choices within our rule books; it's not an excuse to change your army as a way of fine tuning your force. |

Seriously, if it's that, I'll eat my Warboss. There is no way ForgeWorld/ GW are going to be not trying to rake it in with these new batch of Orky goodness... they know full well that most of the new models are ace, they've been pretty good with the AOBR set but I can't help thinking it's a hook to pull in new punters who will eagerly await and anticipate and rush out and buy the second wave in early 2009, and pay through the nose for it.
Crikey... I'm not usually this cynical, I think I've been reading too many of H.B.M.C.'s posts!!!

Looks cool. The sculptor did a good job mimicking Nelson's style, although his grots are terrible. ugggg... see the plastic grots- I won't be replacing a single one of my 60 metal grots (all Brian Nelson Gorkamorka models).
But the plastic nobs are money! Only way I'd like them more is if Nelson did them

That third pic from the top with the Nob all in armour shaking his fist, if you look to the left you can see another plastic Warboss. It has three cables now instead of two going into his Power Klaw as well as wearing an Iron Jaw and bigger Bosspole. Could we be getting a separate boxed plastic Warboss with the second wave or is that just a custom model they placed into the case like that with the new plastic models? Very interesting indeed.

It's just a conversion of the AOBR warboss done by Seb Perbet himself, it's not scheduled for release.

Sorry for necro-ing this thread, but am not sure where else to ask..
Does anyone think/know if in the new Ork Nob plastic sprues there are parts to make a Painboy?
I want to either convert a BR Nob into a painboy or .. wait for this set.
Either way, I want a plastic Painboy that is nob sized..
