I suppose it is possible to slap a nob head inside of a terminator body, but I just cant see that as being orky enough. Terminator armor is too small to house such a big boy and too rounded to match the ork aesthetic. I mean, maybe if you use more plasticard to make it more blocky, but the starter sets come with some limited resources for that. For weapon options you would be limited to big choppas unless you wanted to use human power fists over ork klaws. The twin linked shootas are easy enough to get from the warbosses, unless you proxy the storm bolter one.

Gaming wise I cant see mega nobs as viable unless they are in a trukk. And I dont exactly think I can make one out of the starter set. I will probably stick with my original plan to keep all 30 of my terminators for my deathwing army.

Maybe if you posted some picks of the mega nobs I will be convinced to make some. And what did you use to make the second dreadnought ccw? I am interested in seeing them.

Can't post pics at the moment as I'm working away from home and don't have a digital camera.

However your right I did some light plasticard work I also bulked out the Terminators shoulders and chest usually using ork boy sprue parts. The Power Klaws were bodged using the workybit, rivet and the two blades technique with others being donated by the Boyz Sprue, Warbikers and Warboss. Shootas were done using two spare shootas plasticarded and bitzed together. It's a simple job but you do need a good bitz box.

The Dreadnaught was also bodged from bitz I had. The main components I used were the iron skull from the ork warbike for the carapace. I also used the old warbike gun set for one arm for the two big shootas. The original power fist was replaced with a two blade bodge job using the autocannon worky bits for the arm. The third coming from the top of the head used a Killa Kan arm and a pair of the Ork chainsaw choppa blades glyphed together. So I ended up with a three arm dread.

Thanks for your interest in my work.

Soooooo.... been a while. Since I made a nifty little Ghazghkull model, it got me working on some orks. I need to figure a good color scheme for Ghaz so I practiced some quick ideas on the dreads. Don't mind the lack of basing, I plan to wait about two years and revive this thread...jk (maybe )

So yeah, probably not going to be winning any paint awards but I figure I should share this little update.

Thanks.

Awesome conversion.
Certainly more awesome than the rather lame dread it started out as.

Now painted, even better.

*Insert obligatory warning that Brake fluid MUST be disposed of properly (not just tipping down the sink or drain). I have three mechanics in my street. YMMV. Simple Green struggles with enamels.

I am so happy I found this. I have a marine and ork army I have way too many dreads but no deff dreads, I will defiantly use this. You can also make a warbuggy with the left over chassis of the deff koptas.

Nice work. A couple years too late for me, I bough two of them and traded with a space marine player right there in the store. Maybe next edition.

"gluttons for punishment" units with the gluttons for punishment special rule will never retreat however, they will take additional beatings after combat represented by taking wounds equal to the number they lost the combat by.

Sounds like a good idea. But the starter doesn't come with wheels and at this point I think I only have the driver body, arms, and fuel tank left on those things. You might not see it on the photos, but the the deff dreads use the kopta engine. I used both halves and glued them side by side to make it look even bigger.

Yes there are no wheels in the AOBR kit, and it's a pity you're short of parts because somewhere here on Dakka I remember seeing an awesome tutorial on how to make warbuggies out of the deffkopta chassis whith some extra bits from the trukk.

Well, it's Orks we are talking about, enough scrap metal, spare guns and big nails, and they could loot an aircraft carrier. Great job converting and painting those things, and the pilots' expressions are downright priceless.

Yowza, those turned out really well! Your attention to detail is commendable. The feet on that last one are hilarious. I've got to say though, my favorite part is the ork heads just poking out of where the sarcophagus should be. Just need to base them up and they'll be perfect!

I read the thread from start to finish because it started out really interesting, and just when I started thinking a n00b threadcromancer was at work until I got to the new pics and was really psyched to be wrong! Awesome and cool to see a finished project. Thanks for updating and sharing the process.
